Stop assuming they're refusing medication just to be difficult.
Medication refusal can happen for many reasons.
Your loved one may not remember why they need it.
They may have difficulty swallowing.
Or they may simply feel confused.
Instead of arguing, pause and ask what might be making this moment difficult.
Sometimes changing the time, offering water first, or speaking calmly can make a difference.
If medication refusal becomes frequent, talk with their healthcare provider before making changes.
