"It is only by being fully in this moment that any future moment might be one of greater understanding, clarity, and kindness, one less dominated by fear or hurt, anger or resentment, and more by dignity and a wise acceptance of things as they are."

“All the suffering out there, and still his tail wags on.” 🐾

There is something beautifully mindful about the way a dog moves through the world.

They don’t deny that difficult things exist. They simply remain open to what is here, right now - the walk, the sunshine, a familiar companion, an interesting scent, the simple joy of being alive.

We can learn from that.

Mindfulness doesn’t ask us to ignore the suffering in the world or pretend everything is okay. It teaches us to acknowledge what is difficult without losing sight of the goodness that is also present.

A warm breeze. A kind word. A shared laugh. A quiet breath. A wagging tail. 🌿

There is room to care deeply about the world and experience the beauty of this moment.

Perhaps that’s one of the greatest lessons of presence: We can hold what is difficult and still make room for joy.

"While loving-kindness is taught in many ways by different teachers, ultimately it is an equalizer and an antidote to hatred and aversion. It is a state that can be developed through practices that help us cultivate the unconditional, expansive qualities of the heart. Metta is the great balancer to insight and mindfulness practices."

Be mindful of what you’re taking in with your senses and have an awareness of the environment you spend time in. What we take in can disturb our mind or settle it. Mindfulness can help us choose.

Compassion given to ourselves by the way of self-compassion is a great way to begin this practice. Self-compassion is not self-pity! It is loving kindness and acceptance of what is and where we are right now.

As we cultivate self-compassion, we can open our hearts and be compassionate toward others and their suffering ❤️🙏💜

Like a tree rooted firmly in the earth, we can pause, reconnect, and ground ourselves in who we truly are - beneath the busyness, expectations, and distractions.

Return to your breath.
Return to the present moment.
Return to compassion - for yourself and for those around you.
Return to you. ❤️

As we move through this week, may we stay grounded in authenticity, rooted in compassion, and open to each moment as it comes.

Be present. Be kind. Stay root
