St. Joseph Community Health Foundation Staff supported two of our partner organizations this past weekend. CEO Matt Smith and his wife Kari, along with new-elected Community Member Medina Habic, celebrated Amani Family' Services 20th Anniversary at the Pearl. Mark Burkholder, Projects & Multimedia Manager, and his wife Kelli, brought back the 80's at CTN's Dine 4 Rides at the Mirro Center. Both organizations provide vital services in our community and SJCHF is proud to partner with them.

A Sweet Finish: Celebrating May's Rhubarb Harvest! šŸ“šŸŒ±

As the school year wraps up, our Harvest of the Month (HOTM) program finished on a high note with a final delivery of fresh rhubarb from Berry Hill Farm, who helped source the crisp, tart stalks from farms across LaGrange and Wabash counties.

This end-of-year push was a massive community effort. Because of our incredible volunteers, drivers, and dedicated school/early learning center staff members, we achieved some amazing things:

The Impact:
⭐640 lbs (2,100+ stalks) of fresh, local rhubarb distributed
⭐22 locations reached across 9 Northeast Indiana counties
⭐Thousands of kids experiencing the taste of local agriculture!

šŸ’¬ Sweet success from the field:
"I sent the rhubarb home yesterday with my students and one returned this morning with fresh rhubarb bars. :) I wish you could have seen the smile on her face." — Alison McCoy, 6th Grade Teacher, Westview Elementary

From classrooms to cafeterias (like South Adams Schools, who made a delicious Blueberry Rhubarb Crisp!), this milestone highlights the growing strength of our regional food network. Thank you to everyone who helped us deliver local flavor all year long! šŸ™Œ

Today the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation celebrates the birthday of Saint Katharina Kasper; a woman whose courage, compassion, and deep trust in God continue to shape our mission.

Born in 1820, Saint Katharina founded the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, whose ministry eventually brought St. Joseph Hospital, and later the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation, to Fort Wayne. Her life reminds us that small acts of love can grow into generations of care for moms, babies, and neighbors in need.

May her example inspire us to serve with humility, joy, and a heart open to every person.
