Did you know our Recreation Therapists are dual-certified Aquatic Therapists as well?? We provide this pool-based therapy to our clients with physical disabilities to improve balance, strength, coordination, and general gross motor ability. We are so excited to introduce Lanai Therapies’ very first intern, Haylee! She will be with us all summer long, and we can’t wait for her to meet our therapists and clients while learning the in’s and out’s of community-based RT.

“My name is Haylee, and I am in my final semester at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, studying Therapeutic Recreation. I chose Recreation Therapy after coming across the field during a time when I was still figuring out my career goals. What began as an unexpected discovery developed into a meaningful career path because I recognized how well it aligned with my interests in helping others and making a meaningful impact across a variety of settings and populations.

In my free time, I enjoy playing pickle ball, going on walks, learning new card games, and watching reality television. A fun fact about me is that I can hyperextend my left arm! During my internship, I am most excited to continue developing my clinical skills, learning from experienced professionals, and gaining meaningful hands-on experience working with clients.”
