Anxiety about the Holiday??? Let’s get a game plan!!

1. Make time for some movement that day to avoid feeling sluggish and get digestion moving. Accomplishing small self care tasks like a morning walk will help you get into a good positive mindset.
2. Please don’t go all day starving in order to over eat in the evening. I promise you won’t feel good! Fuel your body so you have energy for the day. And side note- fasting all day And only drinking champagne is a recipe for a very early night!!
3. So many sides are high calorie with little fiber. Be the one to bring something light and fiber filled. Think of it as a “thanksgiving” for your GI bacteria since their food is fiber.
4. If Apps are always in your line of vision you are more likely to eat more regardless of hunger. Plan ahead and bring some crafts to make so that eating is not your only activity.
5. I’ll say it again, drinking all day without enough water or food does not end well!!
6. Many people plan to restrict themselves on this day and get serious FOMO! Others make a plan to over eat and worry about life tomorrow which can make you feel guilty and sick! Why not this year we strike balance of being satisfied and just enjoying until full!

Think healthy eating is too expensive?

Try buying in season produce! It’s usually much cheaper than out of season products and has a much better selection.

Other benefits:
- Produce will last longer on your counter as it typically is grown local and doesn’t have to travel far from farm to store.
- Nutrient quality is better meaning slightly higher vitamin and mineral content.

What’s in season October- November?
Persimmon, pumpkin, Apples, Cauliflower, Pecans, pomegranate, Beets.

Hair loss during cancer treatment can be another challenge to an already difficult journey.

It may take even longer to regrow your hair if you are deficient in protein, Iron, Fat-soluble vitamins (A/D/E/K), Biotin, or Zinc. These nutrients work together to help stimulate growth and protect hair follicles.

It is important to remember that nutrition alone will not regrow your hair. But making sure you include these foods can help provide your body with the tools it needs.

Reminder for foods first! Before starting any new diet or nutrition programs, please check with your doctor or registered dietitian.

Have you heard someone say bananas are bad?

Not true. Also not true for Diabetics.

This fruit contains 25g carbohydrate- similar to the amount found in Apples, cherries, mango, and pineapple.
more importantly bananas include a small amount of protein and a fair amount of fiber all of which helps prevent blood sugar spikes and gives you fullness.

Another reminder that we need to stop looking at foods as Good & Bad.

And yes you can eat bananas and lose weight!!

Do you ever say, “I know what I should eat but how do I do it?”

Start by looking at one meal, like dinner. Keep these simple tips in mind to set up your plate!

1/2 plate fruit & veg- provides fullness, and vitamin/mineral packed!
1/4-1/3 plate protein- increases fullness & takes more energy to digest
1/4 plate carb- main energy source and provides satisfaction
I’d say start by looking at things meal to meal and making sure your hitting these points. This will help you keep a calorie deficit without feeling fatigued.
