I just got yet another test result back from IgeneX on a patient who has gone decades with progressive mystery symptoms, no answers at all from any doctors. Just more prescriptions and diagnosis labels to put her in a nice neat little box of ICD10 codes so that insurance will recognize and approve treatments for her. And we call this healthcare. This patient tested positive for borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme) IgM band 23. According to the CDC she does not have Lyme disease. Except… we also tested for bartonella and babesia using two different methods - antibody testing and FISH (fluorescence in situ hybridization which makes the genetic material light up like a neon sign) and what do you know… she was positive for all of the other “Lyme friends” as well, known as co-infections because ticks are known to carry and transmit more than one disease. If any of these doctors would have even had Lyme, babesiosis, bartonellosis on their differential at all… it would have been found and treated long ago and she could be thriving today. I can’t help but to look at the state of affairs since COVID, watching traditional doctors start to be more open minded about things they don’t understand or even worse, the fact that our government and our governing bodies we rely on might not actually have our best interest at heart. Yet there’s still people out there digging their heels in deeper and calling people like RFKJ a “quack.” Someone who has dedicated his entire life to cleaning up our environment of toxins and helping people feel seen and heard in the medical industry. Their ego is so much bigger than their will to actually help people. I would love to say this is rare. But this is about the 10th person I’ve diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease over the past year seeing patients essentially part time. Pretty much every patient I have tested has been positive for some sort of chronic infection that most doctors scoff and roll their eyes at. Yet they start feeling better when we treat them. Must be a mystery 😏
