Summer can be a wonderful time to enjoy sunshine and fresh air, but for individuals living with dementia, the heat and changes in routine can create additional challenges.

🧠 This week’s tip: Keep hydration a top priority.

Many individuals with dementia may forget to drink water or may not recognize the signs of dehydration. Dehydration can increase confusion, fatigue, dizziness, and even lead to serious health complications.

Here are a few simple ways to help:
💧 Offer water regularly throughout the day
🍉 Provide hydrating foods like watermelon, berries, and cucumbers
☀️ Limit outdoor activities during the hottest hours of the day
🧢 Encourage lightweight clothing and sun protection
🏡 Maintain a cool, comfortable indoor environment

Small steps can make a big difference in helping your loved one stay safe, comfortable, and engaged during the summer months.

Our talk centered on the pillars of men’s health: rest, exercise, mental health, diet, and our main focus- hydration.
Staying healthy doesn’t require dramatic changes. A little more rest, a little movement, some H2O, and a whole lotta connections!
