“Be strong.”
“Don't feel bad.”
“Keep busy.”
We've been handed these messages our whole lives as if they're instructions for healing.
But here's the problem.
Not feeling your feelings doesn't make them disappear.
And “keeping busy” isn't the same thing as processing what hurts.
I know this one personally.
After I lost my husband, I went back to work fairly quickly.
But my work wasn't an attempt to avoid my emotions.
It was an expression of myself.
There's a difference.
We don't need to stop living when we're hurting.
But we also don't need to use being busy, being productive, or being “strong” as a way to avoid what we're actually feeling.
Sometimes strength looks very different.
Sometimes strength is letting yourself feel.
That's what I'm unpacking in this solo episode of HOTNESS.
