Measles is back in the headlines, and the numbers are worth a look.

The U.S. has now confirmed 2,295 cases in 2026, passing last year's full-year total with five months still left in the year. That is the highest annual count in 35 years, according to the Johns Hopkins U.S. Measles Tracker.

The majority of cases are in unvaccinated people. National MMR coverage is still relatively high, but public health officials say it needs to stay above 95% to preserve herd immunity. The country's measles elimination status is up for formal review in November.

For families and caregivers, this is a good moment to confirm that everyone in the household is current on MMR. Our pharmacist can help you review an immunization record and talk through what is recommended at different ages and stages of life.
