🎉 Cheers to an Incredible Career! 🎉

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Deborah Martin DNP, RN, CCRN on her retirement! 💙

Dr. Martin’s St. Luke’s story began on January 4, 1974, when she graduated from St. Luke’s School of Nursing. She says her graduating class is a truly special group! The friendships they built while balancing nursing classes and navigating those strict house-mother dorm days are still thriving today. Many continue to get together as often as they can and remain active members of the St. Luke's School of Nursing Alumni Association , where Dr. Martin serves as Correspondence Secretary. 💙

Dr. Martin began her nursing career at St. Luke’s in 1974, working in med/surg before becoming an Emergency Room nurse, a role she held until 1981. She continued working with various agencies before bringing her talents to Quakertown Hospital in 1984, where she worked full-time as a Critical Care/ICU nurse until beginning her Nursing Instructor Era in 2004. She has even maintained her per diem status to this day!

In 2004, Janet Sipple hired Dr. Martin as an adjunct instructor at St. Luke’s School of Nursing, beginning an incredible teaching career. She most notably taught Nursing 8 from 2006–2024, was honored with the St. Luke’s Nursing Excellence Award, and most recently served as the Nurse Faculty Support Liaison for the SON.

For the past 22 years, Dr. Martin has shared her knowledge, wisdom, dedication, sunny smile, and positive energy with generations of nursing students and faculty. Her impact on the SON has been immense, and we will certainly miss seeing her smiling face in the hallways! ☀️💙

Congratulations and THANK YOU, Dr. Martin, for an incredible career and 22 years of dedication to St. Luke’s School of Nursing! We wish you all the best in this next chapter. 🎉🥳

Enjoy retirement—you’ve earned it! 💙
