☀️ Summer is nearly here, and soon we'll be spending more time at the pool, beach, and water parks.

A few simple precautions can help keep kids safe around water:

💧 Always provide close, active supervision
💧 Use properly fitted life jackets when appropriate
💧 Enroll children in swim lessons when they're ready
💧 Empty kiddie pools after use and lock fences around your pool
💧 Teach kids to ask permission before entering the water

A little preparation can go a long way toward making summer fun and safe for everyone. ☀️💙

A child or teen's mental health is just as important as their physical health. Here are some signs your child may need extra support:

• Mood or behavior changes
• Sleep or appetite changes
• Withdrawal from activities or friends

Bug bites happen — but prevention helps! 🐜

🌿 Use child-safe insect repellent when needed, like DEET
🌿 Dress in light, protective clothing when possible
🌿 Avoid areas with standing water
🌿 Check skin and clothing after outdoor play

If a bite becomes very swollen, painful, or shows signs of infection, be sure to reach out to your pediatrician.

❌ Fever (100.4°F+) within the last 24 hours
❌ Persistent vomiting or diarrhea
❌ Trouble breathing
❌ Low energy and unable to meaningfully participate
