Hi all!

So. I have some news that has been changing my life.

I actually don't think I have IBS type C now. I think this may help others too. "Dyssynergic Defecation".

Please read the next part. And know this, in many cases this is curable. I have also found certain types can be figured out by using slow release magnisium. Also an antispasmodic is super helpful and if you have internal hemmerhoids, a medicine such as Diltiazem oitment that can be applied to the a**s can hugely help reduce the size. But see a doctor for testing (uncomfortable but useful) to get meds and help.

There is a condition called Dyssynergic defecation is a condition where the muscles involved in having a bowel movement don't coordinate properly with the brain. Instead of relaxing to allow stool to pass, some muscles might tighten or not relax enough.
* Commonly under-recognized: It's a functional disorder, meaning there's no structural abnormality, which can sometimes make it harder to diagnose initially, and the specific term might not be immediately clear.
Other terms that might be related, though perhaps less likely given your description, include:
* Obstructed Defecation Syndrome (ODS): This is a broader term that can include dyssynergic defecation as one of its functional causes. ODS refers to a feeling of difficulty emptying the bowels.
* Anismus: This is an older term sometimes used interchangeably with dyssynergic defecation, specifically referring to the lack of relaxation or contraction of the a**l sphincter during attempted defecation.
* Neurogenic Bowel Dysfunction: This occurs when nerve damage affects bowel control, which can lead to difficulties with defecation. While this involves a neurological component, the symptoms of uncoordinated muscle activity could be perceived as a "degenerative" process in terms of function.
If your doctor did diagnose you with something resembling "degenerative defecation," it's highly probable they meant dyssynergic defecation.
