In Massachusetts, the momentum is building to strengthen guardianship laws with bill H.201: An Act Relative to Supported Decision-Making Agreements, currently under discussion in the House after Senate approval last year.

This bill would include Supported Decision-Making (SDM) to offer an alternative to guardianship for adults with disabilities!

Have you ever asked: Where do I start with estate planning as a special needs family?

In this episode, Annette presents an easy way to begin to map out a life and estate plan.
1. Outline your list of support people or network, known as your Circle of Care.
2. Gather all of your stuff and identify: What do I own? Where are my assets, both tangible and digital? What are my debts? What types of work benefits do I need to explore more like long-term care insurance?
3. Find an estate planning attorney and financial planner who understand your family and have special needs planning experience.
