We’re so grateful to everyone who joined us for the MetroWest Care Connection Downtown Framingham Resource Fair on September 29!

With 30+ organizations sharing information, services, and resources, the event was a wonderful opportunity for community members to connect with local supports, ask questions, and build connections.

We’re also proud to share that, thanks to the generosity of our partners, we distributed 100 Winter Readiness Bags to community members and organizations serving individuals experiencing homelessness, helping ensure essential cold-weather items reach those who need them most.

A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors, providers, community organizations, volunteers, and attendees for helping make this semi-annual event such a success. We’re grateful for everyone who continues to show up for our community! 💙

At MetroWest Care Connection, we're proud to shine a spotlight on the dedicated individuals whose compassion and commitment help support individuals and families in our community every day.

This week, we're recognizing Rosangela Smith, a bilingual Portuguese/English Care Coordinator who helps connect families with essential resources, including healthcare, housing, food assistance, health insurance, and other community services.

Born and raised in Brazil, Rosangela moved to the United States in 1996 and has built a career centered on community service, advocacy, and support. She also provides interpretation and translation services, helping bridge communication gaps and ensuring families feel heard and supported.

Outside of her work in community care, Rosangela is a licensed Realtor and enjoys baking, gardening, and caring for her chickens and beloved pets. 🐔🌱

Thank you, Rosangela, for all you do to strengthen connections and support our community! We’re grateful to have you on the MetroWest Care Connection team. 💙

On Saturday, September 19, the MetroWest Housing Coalition hosted our first community meeting, bringing together residents, providers, elected officials, and advocates to discuss how the housing crisis is impacting our communities and how we can create collective impact.

We were grateful to hear from Representative Priscila Sousa about state-level housing efforts and the importance of coalition advocacy. The League of Women Voters also joined us to provide voter registration and voting rights education.

Thank you to our housing justice partners who joined us: MIRA Coalition, Families for Justice as Healing, Homes for All Mass, and Mass Coalition for the Homeless. 💙

Today, we’re excited to introduce Charlie Christ, Community Organizer with MetroWest Care Connection! 💙

For the past five years, Charlie has worked in organizing and advocacy across healthcare, education and professional development, and labor. His work focuses on addressing the systemic barriers that affect working-class people and helping communities create meaningful, lasting change.

Charlie believes that housing is one of the most far-reaching areas of inequality in our society, and an opportunity to bring people together around a shared vision of sustainable housing for all. 🏠

Through his work, Charlie is committed to amplifying the voices of people who have historically been marginalized and supporting their visions for a better future, including the belief that housing is a fundamental human right. 🤝

Charlie earned his Master’s degree in History from Boston College, where he studied U.S. social movements, race and inequality, and transnational antifascism. He has also collaborated with the Abraham Lincoln Brigade Archives, an educational nonprofit that promotes social activism and human rights through the history of the Americans who volunteered to fight fascism during the Spanish Civil War.

Charlie is currently pursuing his PhD at Boston College and is a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. 🇺🇸

We’re grateful to have Charlie as part of the MetroWest Care Connection team and appreciate the passion, perspective, and dedication he brings to our community.

Today, we’re excited to introduce Chiara Doretti, Clinical Operations Manager with MetroWest Care Connection! 💙

Chiara was born in Milano, Italy, and moved to the United States with her family when she was 10 years old. Having experienced firsthand what it’s like to adapt to a new country, culture, way of life, and language, Chiara brings a unique perspective and deep understanding to the work she does.

Chiara earned her undergraduate degree from Providence College and later received her Master’s degree in School Counseling from Assumption College. She spent 13 years working in the public school system, supporting students and families from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Throughout her career, Chiara has been passionate about making sure everyone feels accepted, understood, supported, and that they belong. 🤝 Her personal experiences and professional background continue to shape her commitment to creating welcoming and inclusive communities.

We’re so grateful to have Chiara as part of the MetroWest Care Connection team and for the compassion, empathy, and dedication she brings to her work every day. 💙

Today, we’re excited to introduce you to Genilce Santana, Behavioral Health Access &
Community Engagement Clinician with MetroWest Care Connection! 💙

Genilce has been with the MetroWest community since 2019 and is passionate about creating meaningful connections and supporting individuals throughout their mental health journeys. Her approach is warm, culturally responsive, and client-centered, recognizing and honoring each person’s unique background and lived experience.

Originally from Brazil and trilingual, Genilce brings a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and connection to her work. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Psychology from UMass Boston and a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Framingham State University.

We’re grateful for the compassion, perspective, and connection Genilce brings to the MetroWest community! 💙
