Register for KPHA Webinar: Maternal Behavioral Health in Kentucky: Insights from a Home Visiting Lens

The presentation will start by exploring the importance of maternal behavioral health in Kentucky, and ways that the HANDS program can support families. The bulk of the presentation will focus on an evaluation of how HANDS serves families with behavioral health needs, from a family perspective, a home visitor perspective, and a community perspective. As we explore barriers, opportunities, and actionable next steps for the HANDS program, attendees will be challenged to apply these lessons learned and reflect on their role in promoting maternal behavioral health.

⚠️ MEASLES ALERT: Kentucky health officials have confirmed a case of measles in Christian County, with additional unconfirmed reports and exposures raising concern about possible spread in the Commonwealth.

Measles is highly contagious, but it is preventable. Vaccination with the MMR vaccine remains the best protection against measles. KPHA encourages Kentuckians to stay informed, review their vaccination status, and follow guidance from public health officials.

🌟 KPHA Member Spotlight: Destiny Carte 🌟

Meet Destiny Carte, Epidemiologist II in HIV Surveillance with the Kentucky Department for Public Health!

Destiny’s work focuses on electronic laboratory reporting, data quality, informatics, and strengthening the systems that help public health professionals turn data into action. Since beginning her public health career in 2020, she has helped advance HIV surveillance and reporting efforts across Kentucky, contributing to improvements in the timeliness and completeness of surveillance data.

A dedicated KPHA member and conference attendee since 2021, Destiny has also shared her expertise as a KPHA conference presenter and values the connections, collaboration, and learning opportunities the association provides.

Her advice to fellow public health professionals? “Be curious, practical and remember that small improvements can lead to meaningful change.”

We’re proud to spotlight Destiny and the important work she is doing to strengthen public health in Kentucky!
