What if some of healthcare’s best operational lessons are coming from community hospitals?

Smaller hospitals often move faster, communicate more directly, and adapt workflows more easily—helping them stay responsive in a rapidly changing environment.

Our latest blog explores what the industry can learn from community hospitals about operational agility, patient satisfaction, and long-term performance: https://www.medhost.com/blog/what-community-hospitals-can-teach-the-industry-about-operational-agility/

While large health systems often dominate conversations around innovation and transformation, community hospitals frequently demonstrate something equally important: the ability to move fast, collaborate effectively, and adjust operations in real time.

Patient flow challenges aren’t always just about staffing.

In many hospitals, delays happen because of disconnected systems, communication gaps, and limited visibility across the care journey.

From intake to discharge, these operational roadblocks can slow care and create frustration for both patients and staff.

Our latest blog explores why patient flow has become an operations problem—and what healthcare organizations can do about it: https://www.medhost.com/blog/why-patient-flow-has-become-an-operations-problem-not-just-a-staffing-problem/

Patient flow challenges are often caused by disconnected systems and operational inefficiencies. Learn how hospitals can improve throughput with better visibility and coordination.

“He’s only mostly dead.” - Miracle Max, The Princess Bride

For Dylan Kinney, learning and teaching have always gone hand in hand. With eight years in the industry and a career rooted in instruction, Dylan has found his stride helping others build confidence and skills.

As an Instructor on the MEDHOST Education Team, Dylan specializes in Patient Accounting and Financials training. Since joining MEDHOST in 2018, he has taught application courses, maintained the Learning Management System, managed KeyedIn projects, and stayed current with emerging technology, including artificial intelligence.

One moment that stands out in his career was his first time completing instruction for a full 40‑hour Business Office Director training course. Dylan is especially energized by seeing strong class attendance for topics he enjoys delivering, knowing learners are engaged and eager to dive in.

Artificial intelligence is a major area of interest for Dylan, and he enjoys helping teams understand how new tools can make their work more effective. He brings a sharp attention to detail to his role, always looking for opportunities to improve systems and keep revenue cycles running smoothly.

Outside of work, Dylan performs fully improvised Shakespearean plays with his troupe, The Shakespeariment, and serves as a Dungeon Master for 8 to 12 year olds. His home office is rarely quiet thanks to a six‑pound toy poodle who insists on sitting in his lap.

We’re proud to spotlight Dylan and the creativity, humor, and passion for teaching he brings to the MEDHOST Education Team.

Today, MEDHOST recognizes the primary care and clinic nurses whose experience and understanding help create stronger relationships between patients, providers, and care teams.

The perspective nurses bring helps make care feel more connected, coordinated, and accessible from the very beginning.

We’re proud to have team members like Melissa Gray whose clinical background continues to help connect the realities of patient care with the work we do every day at MEDHOST.
