Long-term care leaders from across the country recently gathered in Washington, D.C. to advocate for policies that support residents, caregivers, and providers.
The importance of that work was a major theme when Brendan Williams, President and CEO of the New Hampshire Health Care Association, joined us at our New England 2 market award celebration last month.
Brendan spoke candidly about one of the biggest challenges facing our profession: long-term care is incredibly difficult to understand from the outside looking in. Policymakers are often asked to make decisions about a complex care environment they've never experienced firsthand. That's why advocacy matters.
As Brendan shared, "There's a way in which we can make the work that all of you do relatable to policymakers."
Brendan also challenged us to stand behind him when advocacy efforts are needed, and that's a message we wholeheartedly support. Strong state associations can only be effective when providers, caregivers, and industry leaders raise their voices together.
We're grateful for Brendan's leadership and for the work he does every day so the realities of long-term care are understood by those making decisions that impact our residents and employees.
