I wish I could tell you that getting on thyroid medication solved all of these problems....

Thyroid medication has helped with sleep, cold tolerance, hypothyroidism-related hair loss, and constipation.

To lower my LDL cholesterol, I increased my fiber intake to at least 30 g of soluble and insoluble fiber per day.

To lower fasting blood sugar, I started eating 30 g of protein at each meal and always paired a high-carbohydrate food with a high-protein or high-fat item. For example, I started eating apples with a handful of nuts. I also exercise daily to keep my blood sugar at a healthy range.

To address gut infections, I did a stool test that showed that I had low stomach acid and low digestive enzymes. I started taking appropriate supplements.

To improve the health of my hair, skin, and nails, I reevaluated all of my supplements. I made sure I wasn't taking too much selenium or vitamin A. I added a non-constipating iron pill. I also did PRP microneedling on my scalp and now do daily scalp massages. In addition, I have a low-level lather therapy "helmet" that I use every other day.

Shocked by my own Hashimoto's experience, I have devoted my life to the care and study of Hashimoto's disease. I constantly teach online, in my private practice, and I am finishing my first book about nutrition for Hashimoto's.

Are your thyroid labs actually accurate, or are your supplements lying to your doctor?

When clients come to see me to optimize their Hashimoto’s, the first thing we do is order a full thyroid panel and a Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP).... at a minimum. But here is a critical mistake I see all the time:

Taking your daily supplement routine right up until the morning of your blood draw.

Certain vitamins and botanicals don't just shift your body's chemistry, they actually interfere with the mechanical testing equipment at the lab!

For example, Biotin (Vitamin B7) mimics assay elements, which can manipulate your numbers to show a falsely low TSH and falsely high Free T4/T3. This makes a perfectly stable person look hyperthyroid on paper!

Even targeted gut supports like DGL, Zinc Carnosine, and Mastic Gum can temporarily sway your electrolyte and liver enzyme metrics if not cleared out on a precise timeline.

To help my community avoid skewed data and wasted money, I put together a comprehensive "Pre-Lab Supplement Discontinuation Guide".

It breaks everything down into an easy-to-use countdown:
🛑 7 Days Before
⚠️ 72 Hours Before
⏳ 48 Hours Before
🕐 24 Hours Before..plus the critical morning-of medication rules!

The scariest part of living with undiagnosed Hashimoto’s wasn’t the symptoms.

It was that I called them NORMAL.
That’s the thing nobody warns you about. Your body doesn’t always scream. Sometimes it just slowly lowers the bar… and you adjust.

You start calling exhaustion “my schedule.” You call always being cold “just how I run.” You call bloating “what I ate.”

And one day you look up and realize you’ve been negotiating with symptoms for YEARS.

Here’s what I need you to hear…
Feeling unwell is not a personality trait. It’s not discipline. It’s not age. It’s information.

Your body has been talking to you this whole time. You just got really good at translating it into “I’m fine.”

When I finally addressed the root of my Hashimoto’s, I didn’t just feel better. I felt the weight of everything I’d quietly tolerated for a decade. And I got angry that I waited so long to ask why.
You don’t have to wait.

If you watched this nodding along… comment SUPPORT and I’ll send you exactly where to start, including a discount codes I only share with my Instagram community.

Why do we always feel cold?

For starters, hypothyroidism slows down metabolic processes in the body, including the rate at which the body burns calories and generates heat. This can decrease overall body temperature, making individuals with hypothyroidism feel cold, especially in their hands and feet.

Then, when thyroid hormone levels are low, BMR decreases, resulting in reduced heat production by the body. This can make us feel cold even in normal environmental temperatures.

And finally, hypothyroidism can also affect peripheral circulation, reducing blood flow to the extremities. This decrease in circulation can contribute to feelings of coldness in the hands and feet.

Do you ever feel cold, even with normal TSH?

Struggling with chronic constipation?

Try eating 2 golden kiwis a day.....with the skin on!

This isn’t just a cute wellness trend, it’s backed by science and it WORKS.

Here’s why:
👉Golden kiwi is rich in soluble & insoluble fiber, basically the dream team for softer, more regular stools.
👉The skin is packed with polyphenols and prebiotics, which feed your gut bacteria (they play a huge role in moving things along).
👉Kiwifruit naturally contains actinidin, an enzyme that supports digestion and reduces bloat.
👉Gentle on the gut and won’t cause cramping or urgency like harsh laxatives.

⚠️ If you’re using green kiwi, peel it first...its skin is tougher and harder to digest.

Nothing works. I’m bloated, tired, and constipated all the time.”
If you’ve said this while dealing with Hashimoto’s, you’re not alone.

Constipation with thyroid issues is not just annoying, it’s a sign that your gut, hormones, and microbiome are screaming for attention. And no, drinking more water isn’t always the magic fix.

In this carousel, I’m giving you step-by-step strategies that go beyond “eat more fiber”.....real action steps that I use with my own clients when nothing else is working.

Slide #6 is the game-changer. This one step (that almost no one talks about) can transform how your gut moves. Don’t skip it.

Finding out what's triggering your symptoms shouldn't feel like solving a mystery alone....Trus me, I know.

Most women with Hashimoto's spend years guessing, cutting out random foods, getting expensive sensitivity tests that lead nowhere, and still feeling awful.

Important: the elimination diet is still the gold standard. But these apps? They make the process so much easier by tracking your patterns FOR you.

I put together the 8 best apps of 2026 that actually help you connect the dots between what you're eating and how you're feeling. Rated and reviewed so you know exactly which one fits your situation.

You think you have a sleep problem.

But most of the time
you have a rhythm problem.

I cannot tell you how many women come to me exhausted, wired at night, dragging in the morning, blaming stress or hormones.

And yes, hormones matter.

But your brain runs on cues. Light. Food. Timing. Nervous system safety.

If your cortisol spikes at the wrong time
if your blood sugar crashes at night
if your brain never gets a signal that the day is over

Sleep will feel like a fight.

The good news?

This is fixable.

Not with a magic pill.
Not with another supplement you saw on TikTok.
But with small, strategic shifts that tell your body it is safe to rest.

Start thinking about sleep as a 24 hour cycle, not a bedtime event.

If your sleep has been off lately, tell me in the comments what is happening.

Trouble falling asleep
Waking at 3 AM
Or exhausted no matter how long you’re in bed

I read every comment.

Let me start.

If my endocrinologist had a suggestion box, I would drop this in as both a Licensed Dietitian who specializes in Hashimoto’s and as a patient myself.

1) Please look beyond TSH.
A normal lab range does not always mean optimal. If someone is still exhausted, losing hair, gaining weight, anxious, or freezing cold, that matters.

2) Please do not dismiss antibodies.
Elevated TPO or TG means active autoimmunity. That is not just background noise.

3) Ask about lifestyle.
Sleep. Protein. Iron. Selenium. Vitamin D. Blood sugar. These influence conversion, inflammation, and symptoms.

😭And when we say, “I don’t feel like myself,” that is not dramatic. That is data.

Medication can be life-changing. But Hashimoto’s is immune-driven. It deserves a bigger conversation.

👉🏻Now tell me yours. What would you put in that suggestion box?
