There are moments that quietly remind you what community really is.
The morning after I came home from my mom’s passing, there was one client I had forgotten to cancel. My mind and heart simply couldn’t hold one more thing.
She showed up at my door, and instead of frustration, she met me with compassion.
I stood there in my robe, swollen-eyed, completely unraveled. She wrapped her arms around me and held me while I cried. It wasn’t just a hug…it felt like being mothered in a moment when I needed it most.
Today she returned, this time for her session.
I wanted to pour a little of that love back into her. We a few hours together. I played the sound bowls, shared some of my creations with her, and, most importantly, thanked her.
As I sat in reflection afterward, I realized something. I thought I was building a business….
It turns out I was building a community.
Somewhere along the way, this community became a place where care moves in every direction. Where the one who usually holds space can also be held. Where grace is given freely. Where healing isn’t something we offer one another, it’s something we create together.
When my own life shattered, that same community held me.
Clients, fellow collaborator, friends…so many of you have wrapped your arms around me in ways I’ll never forget. You trusted me through my grief. You gave me grace when I wasn’t at my best. You reminded me that receiving can be just as sacred as giving.
Perhaps this is the true measure of the work I’ve been doing all along…not in how well I held others, but in the way they held me when I no longer could.
I don’t know that I’ll ever find the words to fully express what that has meant to me.
So, from the deepest place in my heart…
Thank you.
Thank you for allowing me to walk beside you.
And thank you for walking beside me when I could barely find my own footing.
I thought I was creating places for people to heal. Instead, together, we’ve become a community that knows how to hold one another.
And that is the greatest gift I could have ever received.
