I’m using my Poppy Pins to create the easiest curly updo. Just grab a good section of curls, give it a little twist, open the pin, slide it straight down and let it do its thing. ✨

Cute. Easy. Curls off my neck. And it looks like I tried way harder than I actually did. 😂

Get ready with me in less than 10 minutes… but today feels a little different. 🥹

Today I’m taking Elijah to college.

So while I’m throwing on a little makeup and refreshing my curls with Hair Revival Wow Curl Mix & Fix Building Spray, FLO-ETRY Vital Nutrient Serum, my diffuser and a little oil… my mind is going about 100 miles an hour.

I have an almost one-year-old at home and today I’m sending my 18-year-old off to college. How are BOTH of those things my life right now?! 😂🥹

I’m so incredibly proud of him, but this mama is feeling all the emotions today.

This week has my mama heart feeling all the things. 🥹🤍

On Monday, Xavier and I spent the day at the Saginaw Children’s Zoo with my mom, and it was exactly what I needed. 🦒🚂 We rode the choo-choo train, explored the animals, played on the playground, and soaked up one of those beautiful warm Michigan days.

But this little zoo trip felt extra special.

Xavier is about to turn 11 months old, and on Friday I’m sending my oldest off to college. One baby is getting ready to turn ONE while my other baby is getting ready to leave home. How did we get here?! 😭

My mind has been all over the place this week. I’m so incredibly happy and proud, but there’s also that ache of knowing these are some of the last ordinary days with all of us living under the same roof for a while.

So if I haven’t posted as much this week, it’s because I’m trying to be here for it. To put my phone down sometimes. To make the memories. To ride the choo-choo train. 🚂 To watch Xavier experience his first zoo trip and soak up these last few days before we send his big brother off on his next adventure.

Motherhood is wild. One minute you’re celebrating their first trip to the zoo…and the next you’re packing another one up for college. 🤍

This season is changing so fast, and I’m just trying to take it all in.

Mamas with older kids…tell me I’m going to be okay on college move-in day. 😭🤍

🧶 WIP Wednesday 🧶

Something you may not know about me is that I love to craft! I learned to knit about two years ago after taking a class at North Bay Fiber with my mom and cousin—and I completely fell in love.

Before having Xavier, knitting was one of my favorite ways to relax. These days, I may only get a few minutes here and there, but I’m learning how important it is to make time for something that feeds my soul.

I also love crocheting and quilting. I think I’m simply a maker at heart. 🤍

It’s refresh-your-curls day! ➰✨

After wearing extensions for many years, I’m learning how to embrace my natural curls again—and apparently, my curls came with homework. 😂 I’m trying new tricks, testing different products, and figuring out what my hair loves now.

For today’s refresh, I added moisture, redefined my curls, gave my roots a little lift, and finished with some shine. And all my longtime curly girls know the biggest surprise: I used a brush! I never would have done that before, but I’m officially learning to embrace the curly brush—and I’m loving the definition it gives me.
