A legacy rooted in rural healthcare. 🌱

Many may know the Ron Nelson Award through NARHC, but may not know that Ron L. Nelson, PA-C was also the founder of Health Services Associates.

Ron started HSA right here in rural West Michigan with a mission to promote access to healthcare in rural and medically underserved communities. He went on to co-found NARHC and became one of the most respected voices in Rural Health Clinic policy, reimbursement, and advocacy.

Each year, NARHC presents the Ron Nelson Award to recognize an outstanding leader and promoter of Rural Health Clinics—someone who has dedicated their time and talent to advancing health and well-being through the RHC program.

This week, Amanda and Michelle of HSA were proud to be on Capitol Hill at the 2026 NARHC Policy Summit, joining Rural Health Clinic leaders, advocates, and healthcare professionals from across the country to elevate the voice of rural healthcare. 🇺🇸🌱

Over two days of discussions, education, and meetings with policymakers, the focus remained clear: protecting and strengthening access to care for rural communities.

We were honored to connect with clients and partners throughout the event, including Krysten Newlon of Hillsdale Hospital and Ed Friedman from Iowa, and appreciated the opportunity to meet with Congressman Jack Bergman to discuss issues impacting RHCs and the patients they serve.

Rooted in Rural means more than supporting clinics from afar. It means showing up, listening, advocating, and helping ensure rural healthcare priorities are heard where decisions are made so communities flourish.

Thank you to National Association of Rural Health Clinics NARHC for bringing together such a passionate group of advocates dedicated to the future of RHCs.
