Grace + Hope
Grace + Hope began during a season of waiting.
When my son, Carter, was deployed to the Middle East, I found myself carrying the emotions familiar to so many military families—love, pride, uncertainty, and concern for someone dearly loved who was far from home.
I turned to sewing as a constructive outlet for my nervous energy. As I stitched each bag, I prayed for Carter, reflected on life's blessings, and found comfort in creating something with my hands.
During those quiet hours, my thoughts often returned to my grandmothers, Grace and Hope.
I thought about the women they were and the strength they carried. I wondered how they navigated the uncertainty of loved ones serving during World War II. While the world was different then, I imagine the feelings were much the same: love, worry, faith, resilience, and hope for safe returns.
My grandmother Grace taught me hospitality, faith, family, and unconditional love. She always had coffee ready, a place at the table, and time for the people she loved. She showed me that grace is love expressed through everyday acts of kindness.
My grandmother Hope taught me perseverance, self-reliance, and quiet strength. She believed in hard work, caring for what you have, and facing life's challenges with determination. She showed me that hope is not simply wishing for a better future—it is choosing to move forward even when the path is uncertain.
As I sewed, their memories kept returning to me. Their lives, their examples, and the lessons they left behind became the foundation for what I was creating.
Grace + Hope is more than a collection of handmade items. It is a tribute to the women who shaped my life, a reflection of a mother's love for her son, and a reminder that every season asks us to hold both grace and hope.
Grace for what we cannot control.
Hope for what lies ahead.
And faith to keep moving forward one stitch, one prayer, and one day at a time.
Let go with grace. Move forward in hope.
