Considering treatment for varicose veins? Foam sclerotherapy is one of the most patient-friendly options available.

It is a minimally invasive, in-office procedure. Ultrasound guides each injection of medicated foam into the affected vein, causing it to collapse and gradually be reabsorbed as blood reroutes through healthier veins nearby. Most patients describe only minor discomfort, wear compression stockings afterward, and return to their normal day right away.

Results appear over several weeks. Whether it is right for you depends on a professional evaluation of your specific veins. Send us a message if you would like to talk it through.

The back-to-school checklist rarely mentions circulation. It should.

The same daily habits that help kids stay focused also quietly protect their vein health for decades. Movement between homework sessions. A refillable water bottle in the backpack. A lighter load with both straps used. Feet flat on the floor while sitting.

None of it requires special equipment. Just small, repeatable rhythms the whole family can share. Model the walk. Refill the bottle. Healthy circulation starts at home.

What is one habit your family is bringing back this school year?

September is National Vascular Disease Awareness Month, and the best preparation starts before the calendar flips.

A simple self-check at home is a great place to begin. In good lighting, examine both legs and compare side to side. Look for bulging veins, swelling around the ankles, color changes, or new vein patterns. Note how your legs feel after long workdays or travel. Take a photo every few months to track gradual changes.

If anything looks new or persistent, do not dismiss it. A professional vein evaluation gives you a clear baseline and peace of mind. We have spent over 30 years helping Central Valley patients understand their vein health, and we are here whenever you are ready.

Celebrating our July birthdays the Elmore Medical way.

There's something special about a team that shows up for each other. Between patient visits and ultrasound appointments, we made a little time this month to gather around the table, share some cake, and honor the people who make this practice feel like family.

Our team is the heart of what we do. When you come in for your vein care, these are the folks caring for you, and we're grateful for every one of them.

To our July birthday crew: thank you for everything you bring to Elmore Medical. Here's to another year of caring for people, not just performing procedures.

Hydration and movement get most of the attention when it comes to vein health, but there is another quiet helper worth knowing: bioflavonoids.

These plant compounds, found in citrus, berries, onions, leafy greens, and buckwheat, strengthen capillary walls, calm inflammation, and support healthy circulation. They will not replace movement or medical care, but they are one of the easiest additions to a vein-friendly routine.

Rotate a few of these foods through your week and you give your vascular system real, ongoing support. If you have noticed swelling, heaviness, or visible veins that are not improving, give us a call. We are here to help.

Do vein supplements actually work? It depends on which ones you take.

A class of plant-derived compounds called venoactive drugs, including MPFF, diosmin, and hesperidin, has solid clinical research behind it. Studies show they can reduce leg heaviness, swelling, and pain, and they are recommended in international vein care guidelines as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.

They are not a replacement for compression therapy or procedural treatments, but for the right patient, they can offer meaningful symptom relief. We carry these supplements in our office and are happy to talk through whether they fit your situation.

Vein disease is often called a women's issue, but up to 45% of men experience some form of venous disease in their lifetime. Most wait years longer than they should before seeking care.

Heaviness, aching, swelling, restless legs, and skin changes near the ankles are not normal parts of aging. They are signs that the valves in your leg veins may need attention. Left untreated, venous disease tends to get worse, not better.

This Men's Health Month, encourage the men in your life to take that first step. Modern vein treatments are minimally invasive, performed in our office, and most patients are back to normal activity the same day.

A red, tender, cord-like streak along a vein under your skin? It might be superficial thrombophlebitis, a combination of vein inflammation and a small blood clot in a vein close to the surface.

It's fairly common and usually manageable with compression, elevation, gentle movement, and anti-inflammatories. But it can sometimes extend deeper, which is why it's worth getting checked. Existing varicose veins, long flights, dehydration, smoking, and certain medications can all raise the risk.

If you notice the signs, especially after travel or a period of immobility, don't wait it out. A simple evaluation can rule out anything more serious and put you on the right path.

Birth control and vein health are more connected than many women realize. Estrogen can influence how your veins behave and how your blood clots, which is why certain hormonal methods carry a slightly higher clot risk than others, especially when paired with smoking, family history, or existing vein issues.

For most women, the absolute risk stays low. Staying active, hydrated, and informed makes a real difference. So does an honest conversation with your provider about your history.

This Women's Health Month, we're encouraging the women we care for to ask the questions and know the answers. If you have leg symptoms or questions about your circulation, a vein evaluation is a great place to start.

What's one thing you wish more women knew about vein health? Tell us in the comments.

Celebrating the heart of Elmore Medical: our clinical staff.

Last week, we paused to honor the people who make our practice what it is. From the nurses and clinicians who greet every patient with warmth, to the team members who keep our office running with care and precision, we are so grateful for each of you.

Good food, kind words, fresh flowers, and a wall full of "thank yous" felt like the smallest way to say what we feel every day: we could not care for our patients the way we do without you.

To our clinical team, thank you for showing up with compassion, expertise, and heart. You are the reason people in Fresno and the Central Valley trust us with their vein care.
