Golfer with back pain? Before you blame your back, check your hips.
The golf swing depends on rotation coming from the hips and thoracic spine. The lumbar spine is built more for stability than rotation.
When the hips lose internal rotation, the body still has to complete the swing. That extra rotation usually gets borrowed from the low back.
Over time that creates shear stress, irritation, and the kind of back pain many golfers feel after a round.
From the outside it feels like a back problem. But many times it is a movement problem below the back.
At Conrad Spine and Sport we start by identifying the pattern first. When the hips move better and the body transfers load correctly, the spine usually stops taking the hit.
If your back tightens up every time you play, there is probably a reason.
Start with clarity at Conrad Spine and Sport. Let’s get to work.
