No! In gestational surrogacy, the surrogate is not biologically related to the baby. 🧡

The baby is conceived through IVF before the embryo is transferred to the gestational carrier. That means:

✨ The egg comes from an intended parent or egg donor
✨ The s***m comes from an intended parent or s***m donor
✨ The embryo is created through IVF
✨ The embryo is then transferred to the gestational carrier
✨ The gestational carrier does not share DNA with the baby

Traditional surrogacy is different because the surrogate’s own egg is used, meaning she is biologically related to the baby.

Today, the majority of all surrogacy in the U.S. is gestational surrogacy, and it is the only type of surrogacy we do at A Fuller Life Surrogacy.

The surrogate may not share the baby’s DNA, but she gives something pretty incredible: a safe place to grow and the opportunity for another family to welcome the baby they’ve been waiting for. 🧡

Medical screening is such an important part of the process, bringing her one step closer to transfer day and to helping another family’s dream become a reality.

Choosing to become a gestational carrier is such an incredible act of love and generosity. We feel so lucky to walk alongside women like Justice who are willing to give such an extraordinary gift to another family.
