A healthy gut doesn’t always look or sound “perfect.” In fact, some of the things we’re taught to think are weird, embarrassing, or concerning can simply be signs that your digestive system is doing its job.

Your gut is supposed to make noise, move, ferment, digest, and eliminate. It’s a working system, not a silent one.

Save this for the next time your gut gets a little… vocal☺️

Fiber supports regular bowel movements and helps nourish your gut bacteria. As a gut health nutritionist, eating enough fiber is one of the things I’m always preaching!

But if you’re not used to eating much fiber, adding too much too quickly can leave you bloated and uncomfortable. Start small, increase gradually, and drink enough water. You don’t have to jump straight to 30 grams overnight.

If you have SIBO, make sure to check out my other SIBO posts before implementing these ideas. Your tolerance and portions may need to be individualized.

Save these ideas for simple ways to add more fiber throughout your day.

The numbers are approximate and rounded for simplicity🤍

Health doesn't always show up in lab results, expensive supplements, or a perfect routine.
Sometimes it shows up in the small, ordinary things your body does without you even thinking about them.
We spend so much time noticing what feels wrong that we often overlook all the ways our bodies are working well.
How many of these apply to you?

I have never posted this story before, but it feels like the right time.
The slides say most of it, so I will just add what they do not. The little boy in the first photo is the same person in the last one. Between those two pictures there were years I did not know how we would get through, including the gut and SIBO work so many of you know me for now. A lot of what I do professionally began with him, and with love, honestly.
What I did not expect was how much of the hard part was mine to carry, not his. He was busy being himself, exactly as he was meant to be. I was the one grieving a plan.
If you are the parent reading this, still holding the guidebooks for a trip you never took, I am not going to tell you to be grateful. Just look around when you are ready. Holland is quieter than Italy, and it is so much more beautiful than I ever expected.
And it is full of people like us. Save this for a harder day, or send it to someone who is still landing. I am glad you are here🤍

No time for a sit-down lunch, but still want to get your protein in? This is one of my favorite tricks.

I make one of my favorite fiber-rich smoothies and add 's Naked Goat. Two scoops give you about 23 grams of protein, and I love that it's clean and simple with just one ingredient.

Quick, easy, and a great way to get your protein and fiber in when you're short on time.

The average American’s healthspan is about 12 years shorter than their lifespan. That means many of us are living longer, but spending more than a decade burdened by disease or disability.

The goal isn’t simply to add more years to our lives. It’s to make our healthspan match our lifespan as closely as possible, so we can remain strong, active, clear-minded, and independent for as long as we live🤍

SIBO symptoms can overlap with many other digestive conditions. Bloating, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, and excessive gas do not automatically mean someone has SIBO.

That is why I believe in testing before treating whenever possible. A properly performed breath test can help determine whether bacterial overgrowth is present and whether hydrogen, methane, or hydrogen sulfide may be involved. That information matters because treatment should not look the same for everyone.

Antibiotics can be incredibly helpful when appropriately prescribed, but treating based on symptoms alone may expose someone to medication they do not need and potentially disrupt the balance of the gut microbiome.

SIBO can be frustrating, especially when you’ve gone through treatment, started feeling better, and then the symptoms slowly start creeping back in.

One piece that often gets overlooked is motility.

Treating the overgrowth is important, but if the small intestine isn’t moving things through efficiently, bacteria can have another opportunity to build up where they don’t belong.

In this post, I’m going through some of the factors that can affect motility, what can slow it down, and different ways to support it.

If your SIBO keeps coming back, it may be worth asking: What is my motility actually like?

Save this. Share it with someone dealing with SIBO. Follow for more gut health education.
