The Aussie Texans Living in Texas after creating a beautiful life & family in Australia. Hi, we're Rick and Cathy!

We are now living life on our own terms, homeschooling and running a high ticket affiliate marketing business. After 6 wonderful years in Australia, we've moved back to Texas with our 6-year-old daughter. We have family that still lives in Australia, so we started a high ticket affiliate marketing business to travel back often without asking for time off. We're our own bosses now, homeschooling ou

r daughter, and living the life we dreamed of. Follow our journey as we balance work, family, and adventure from Texas to Australia and beyond! ❤️✈️

Learning doesn’t have to happen at a desk. ❤️

Last night’s RoughRiders game turned into an unexpected homeschool lesson!

Every pitch, the speed would pop up on the big screen. We’d each guess what the next pitch speed would be, and then Alivia had to quickly tell us the difference between our guess and the actual speed before the next pitch was thrown. It was fast-paced mental math, and she loved the challenge!

One minute she was cheering for baseball, the next she was practicing subtraction and number sense without even realizing she was “doing school.”

That’s one of my favorite things about homeschooling—learning is everywhere. Whether we’re at a baseball game, the grocery store, on a road trip, or in the kitchen, there are opportunities to learn if we’re willing to look for them.

The world really is the classroom. ⚾📚💙

We had the pleasure of puppy-sitting sweet Pepper this weekend, and Alivia was heartbroken to see her go! 🐶💕

As much as we loved the cuddles, it reminded me how much I enjoy our pet-free season of life. No rushing home for potty breaks, no fur on everything, no barking at guests, and traveling is so much simpler.

For now, I’m happy to enjoy everyone else’s adorable pets! ❤️

Homeschool isn’t just books and lessons - it’s real life-
This last week we have learned how to make chicken nuggets, muffins and bread all from scratch.

Alivia helped adjust recipes and calculate the tbsp and tsps needed to yield the amounts we wanted to make.

There is learning everywhere.

Homeschooling is on the rise — and for good reason. 📚🤍

Over the last few decades, homeschooling has gone from something very few families considered… to one of the fastest-growing educational movements in America. Millions of children are now being educated at home, and those numbers surged dramatically in recent years as parents began asking deeper questions:

Who is shaping my child’s values?
Who has the greatest influence over their worldview?
What kind of future am I preparing them for?

For our family, homeschooling was never just about academics. It’s about protecting childhood, strengthening family bonds, building faith, encouraging critical thinking, and having a front row seat to who our children are becoming.

The outside influences on our kids today are stronger than ever — social media, peer pressure, shifting cultural values, endless noise competing for their attention. As parents, we have the privilege and responsibility to be intentional about who helps shape their hearts and minds.

Homeschooling isn’t always easy. There are messy days, doubts, unfinished lessons, and moments of wondering if you’re doing enough. But there is also freedom, deeper relationships, slower mornings, more conversations, and the incredible blessing of walking beside your children as they learn.

If you’ve ever been curious about homeschooling, are new to it, or just want Christian community with other like-minded families — we would LOVE to have you join us. 🤍

Our homeschool group meets Tuesday mornings in the Frisco / Prosper / Celina / McKinney area for fellowship, friendship, and community.

🌿 Tuesday Morning Homeschool Group 🌿
Faith • Family • Friendship

Are you a homeschooling mama searching for Christian fellowship, meaningful friendships, and a wholesome environment for your children to socialize and grow? We would love to connect with you. 🤍

Our group is low structure, high connection — a relaxed space where kids can simply be kids while moms build friendships, encourage one another, and do life together.

✨ We usually meet on Tuesdays at 10:30 AM for park days in the Frisco, Prosper, Celina, Little Elm, McKinney, and surrounding areas.

What you’ll find with us:

🌿 Christian fellowship & community
🛝 Weekly park meet-ups
🎨 Crafts & simple activities
📚 Occasional educational field trips
🤍 A welcoming, Christ-centered environment
👶🧒 Group ages approximately 2–14 years

Our goal isn’t perfection or packed schedules — it’s creating a place where homeschool families can build friendships, support one another, and raise our children surrounded by faith and community.

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” — Proverbs 22:6

Life gets busy… but sometimes the most important thing you can do is slow down 🤍

I will never regret stepping back from my career to be more present with Alivia. Time is something you can never get back—and I refuse to miss these years.

Someone once said that once kids start school, you may only get 2–4 hours a day with them. The rest of their time is shaped by teachers, peers, and the world around them. That really stuck with me.

I wanted to be the one pouring into her… guiding her, teaching her, and keeping her grounded in what truly matters.

For our family, that meant choosing homeschool—keeping Christ at the center and being intentional with every moment we’ve been given.

Because these days are fleeting… and they are everything. ✨

We kicked off the season at The Star in Frisco, where we got to see the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders in their Christmas extravaganza, the lighting of an amazing 67-ft LED Christmas tree, and even a surprise visit from Santa himself! 🎅🏽💙

On the way home, we noticed a local church having a tree lighting + drone show, so of course we stopped — and WOW! The drones told the beautiful story of the birth of Jesus across the sky. Truly breathtaking. ✨🙏

— my heart is full. 💙✨

We decided as a family that we won’t be trick-or-treating anymore — it’s just not something we feel called to celebrate. No judgment toward anyone who does — we all have our own convictions and ways of spending the day. 💛

So instead, we went to the movies and saw Back to the Future for its 40th anniversary! It was such a fun night, and Liv absolutely loved it! 🎬
