As an optician living with diabetes and who has dedicated my entire adult life to Eyecare I cannot emphasize enough just how important regular annual eye exams are for diabetics (no matter if it’s type 1, 2, or 3c. Permanent blindness is a real threat to all of us diabetics and the only prevention is early diagnosis and treatment of retinopathy.

If you live with diabetes, assembling a strong eye health care team is a must, starting with an optometrist. You may also need to see an ophthalmologist or optician. Here’s how to know.
