Black Creek Veterinary Clinic

Black Creek Veterinary Clinic We are a small animal veterinary clinic dedicated to outstanding patient care and to educating pet o Dr Heacock fully retired from practice in August of 2013.

Black Creek Animal Clinic was originally started as Presley Animal Hospital in the 1950s. In 1981 the practice was purchased by Dr Noel Heacock and renamed Black Creek Animal Clinic. Dr. Mary Bochino also worked from this office for a few years. Dr Heacock owned and operated the practice until April 3 2013, when it was purchased by Dr Ariane Hamblin-Smith. In April of 2021 Dr Lynn Baker joined our

practice. The staff members are Mary Pooler, who has been with the practice since 1990. Mary is the assistant and Clinic Coordinator (she is the hub that keeps this wheel turning!!:). Taryn Gates is the morning receptionist and Office Manager. She has been with the practice for over 10 years. Taryn is exceptional at customer service, and knows several clients by their voice on the phone!! Samantha Converse LVT has been our lead veterinary technician since 2015. In 2018 Jill Krick joined our team as an assistant and she has recently graduated with her LVT degree. In 2019 Kerri Hammond LVT joined our team, bringing nearly 20 years of experience as in the veterinary field. We are all committed to giving our patients the best care possible. We want to help their owners/parents better understand veterinary medicine, preventative care, and medical treatments. We want to work within our community to try to offer our pets a better life. Dr Hamblin enjoys surgery, connecting with clients and getting to know clients and their pets on a personal level. We want to care for your pets from puppy/kitten stage through end of life. We want to forge strong bonds and work towards health and well being for animals.

If you find a bat inside your home, it is important to take precautions to protect yourself and your family. Do not release the bat, even if you do not see a bite or scratch.

Bat bites can be very small and may go unnoticed. If a person or pet may have come into contact with the bat, keeping the bat available for testing can help determine whether rabies exposure occurred and whether treatment is needed.

If you find a bat in your home, safely contain it and contact the Oswego County Health Department for guidance on what to do next.

Our clinic is getting a much needed new roof!!! Thanks so much to CCR Contracting for being willing to work on a warm Saturday morning so we did not have to interrupt patient care. We are sad Huxley wasn’t working as crew management today but he will love the new roof when he comes back for his vaccines😊 We love to support small local businesses that support us!!

In addition to the other cameras around our clinic we have added one just to monitor our dumpster. Sadly people have decided that the cost of running a small business isn’t quite enough, so they have been illegally dumping in our dumpster. This increases our operating costs, and as a small business we do not receive the benefits of cost savings that are given to giant corporations. If you wonder why things cost so much look no further than those in the community that decide to prey on small businesses.
In the future we will prosecute anyone caught dumping in our dumpster. The camera is yet another cost we have to incur to gather the proof to get them prosecuted.

In compliance with the NYS Clean Air Act it is the policy of our clinic that we do not allow smoking, va**ng or cannabis use on our property, including in front of our building as these odors travel inside. Further, due to staff sensitivities and the need to maintain a healthy work environment we will ask anyone that is in our practice with overwhelming odors (including smoke, ma*****na, perfumes/colognes) to leave. Please be aware of this prior to any scheduled appointments. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding that in compliance with NYS law it is our duty to maintain a proper work environment for our staff.
