Micah’s Update ❤️🧡
It’s been a bit since our last update, and we wanted to share how things have been going since Micah came home.
We’ve continued outpatient therapy three times a week, and Micah is still pushing through his chemo treatments. We’re on track to finish this phase around the first week of November, and then we’ll begin the maintenance phase around November 24–25, which will last about a year. During that time, we’ll just be checking in at the doctor’s office once a month.
Sleep has been a challenge lately — nights have been restless, and we’re trying different things to help Micah (and us!) get better rest. We’re staying pretty exhausted during the day, but we keep moving forward. Micah walks everywhere now — he hasn’t used his wheelchair at all except when he’s at therapy, which is such a huge step.🏃🏽♂️
At home, we’ve had visits from family and friends, and in our free time we love playing with the dogs, listening to music, playing video games, and watching TV together. We’ve even managed a few outings with loved ones for meals and small get-togethers.
One of the sweetest moments this past month — Micah asked to be baptized again on September 21st. 🙌 His faith and determination continue to amaze us. While we’re still navigating some ups and downs with mood, we’re doing our best to stay positive and celebrate every bit of progress.
Right now, speech and memory are our biggest focus areas in therapy, and we know those will take time. Through it all, Micah keeps showing us what true strength looks like.
On a sad note, Micah’s sweet dog, Gizmo, held on long enough to spend one special week with him after he came home. It was almost like Gizmo was waiting for him. We made the difficult decision to let him go peacefully, and while our hearts are broken, we’re so grateful they got that time together.
Thank you all for continuing to love, support, and pray for our family. Every care package, message, visit, and prayer means more than you know. 😊
With love,
Brad, Isa, and Micah
