First off, we want to thank each and every one of you for the love and generosity you have shown Micah and our family. We are so grateful. A special thank you to everyone who sent vinyl records, money, and Nintendo Switch games for Micah’s birthday—it meant so much to him. And thank you to “Uncle Keith” for all the random gifts, snacks, and especially the very encouraging notes. Those little things have meant more than you know.

Micah continues to make progress. He has gained more mobility and strength in his right leg and foot, and he is now walking without his brace, which is a huge milestone! We started rehabilitation back up at the beginning of January, and even in this short time we have already seen improvements. His ability to recognize his alphabet has improved, and he is now able to read some words, though not full sentences yet.

We’ve also had some really special moments recently. We surprised Micah by taking him to watch his friends wrestle at the Regional meet. Seeing him laugh and spend time with his friends again reminds us how important those normal moments are for him.

At rehab, they even took Micah fishing as part of his therapy, and he managed to catch a few catfish! 🎣

Just a few weeks ago, Micah was able to visit school for a little while. He spent time with his wrestling team and even participated in team photos. Before the photo, Coach Davis took him to the cafeteria so he could eat lunch with the other students just like he used to. Moments like that mean everything to him—and to us.

Today, March 5, Micah started the second phase of his maintenance chemotherapy. His blood counts look good, and he has even put on some weight, which is great news. We also had an appointment with his eye specialist, and his vision is continuing to improve greatly.

While we were at the eye doctor, I received another piece of great news from Micah’s rehabilitation center. Because of some insurance changes and a new mandate, Micah now has unlimited rehab days for this year instead of the 35-day maximum we originally had. This is an incredible blessing and will allow him to continue getting the therapy he needs.

Thank you all again for continuing to support, encourage, and pray for Micah. We see the progress every day, and we know how far he has come. We are excited to see what the next months will bring.

With love,
Brad, Isa, and Micah

Micah’s Update ❤️🧡

It’s been a bit since our last update, and we wanted to share how things have been going since Micah came home.

We’ve continued outpatient therapy three times a week, and Micah is still pushing through his chemo treatments. We’re on track to finish this phase around the first week of November, and then we’ll begin the maintenance phase around November 24–25, which will last about a year. During that time, we’ll just be checking in at the doctor’s office once a month.

Sleep has been a challenge lately — nights have been restless, and we’re trying different things to help Micah (and us!) get better rest. We’re staying pretty exhausted during the day, but we keep moving forward. Micah walks everywhere now — he hasn’t used his wheelchair at all except when he’s at therapy, which is such a huge step.🏃🏽‍♂️

At home, we’ve had visits from family and friends, and in our free time we love playing with the dogs, listening to music, playing video games, and watching TV together. We’ve even managed a few outings with loved ones for meals and small get-togethers.

One of the sweetest moments this past month — Micah asked to be baptized again on September 21st. 🙌 His faith and determination continue to amaze us. While we’re still navigating some ups and downs with mood, we’re doing our best to stay positive and celebrate every bit of progress.

Right now, speech and memory are our biggest focus areas in therapy, and we know those will take time. Through it all, Micah keeps showing us what true strength looks like.

On a sad note, Micah’s sweet dog, Gizmo, held on long enough to spend one special week with him after he came home. It was almost like Gizmo was waiting for him. We made the difficult decision to let him go peacefully, and while our hearts are broken, we’re so grateful they got that time together.

Thank you all for continuing to love, support, and pray for our family. Every care package, message, visit, and prayer means more than you know. 😊

With love,
Brad, Isa, and Micah
