CCACC News - CCACC Health Center Successfully Hosted the 4th Annual Charity Pickleball Tournament

On Sunday, May 17, 2026, the CCACC Health Center successfully hosted its 4th Annual Charity Pickleball Tournament at CCACC Sports. This year's event was organized in support of the PROMISE Program, raising funds for services benefiting children with special needs in the community. Through this charitable initiative, CCACC Health Center hoped to bring greater support and encouragement to more families in need.

Since its founding in 2022, the Charity Pickleball Tournament had become one of the CCACC Health Center's signature annual fundraising events. This year's tournament was jointly organized by CCACC Health Center and CCACC Sports, and was led by former CCACC Board Member Charles Chen and current Board Member Terry Hsiao, whose efforts helped unite community members in support of a meaningful cause.

Although rainy weather persisted throughout the day, the indoor bubble courts at CCACC Sports remained fully operational, providing participants with a stable and comfortable playing environment and allowing the tournament to proceed smoothly without interruption.

Notably, Mr. Charles Chen and Mr. Phil Zen, Deputy Director of CCACC Sports, personally formed a team named "Soo Love" to participate in the competition. Board Member Terry Hsiao and Timothy Chi also led teams in the tournament. Mr. Chih-Hsiang Li, Director of CCACC Sports and CCACC Co-founder, attended the event in person as well. Mr. Steve Chen, President of the Chien Kuo High School Alumni Association, once again showed his enthusiastic support by participating in the event. Throughout the tournament, both new and longtime friends gathered together, creating a warm and lively atmosphere.

The PROMISE Program was jointly established by a team of special education specialists from the University of Maryland, CCACC Health Center, and Speech Garden. The program is dedicated to providing structured social skills training for children with developmental delays and special needs, while also offering parents professional support in caregiving strategies, resource navigation, and advocacy services.

CCACC Health Center emphasized that children with special needs and their families require ongoing support and attention from the broader community. Only through mutual care and collaboration can a more inclusive and compassionate environment be created—one in which every child is empowered to reach their full potential and shine.

Since December of last year, Mr. Yi Shen (Asian Liaison from the Montgomery County Office of Community Partnerships), together with the Montgomery County Asian American Health Initiative (AAHI), has extended invitations to Asian community organizations throughout the Greater Washington area to jointly organize the 5th Annual Montgomery County Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration in 2026. Community organizations responded enthusiastically and devoted tremendous effort to preparing performances and cultural exhibits. Following multiple planning meetings and detailed discussions, the overall event program was successfully finalized. Ms. Chiao-Chiao Liu (Director of CCACC Community Services) actively participated in every stage of the planning process, working closely with community partners to help bring this annual cultural celebration to life.

The event was grandly held on May 3, 2026, at Seneca Valley High School in Germantown.

CCACC News - CCACC Art Gallery Successfully Hosted a Special Exhibition Celebrating 2026 AAPI Heritage Month

To celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, CCACC Art Gallery has presented a themed special exhibition every May, paying tribute to multiculturalism through art. Over the years, this tradition has become one of the most meaningful annual cultural events of the Chinese Culture and Community Service Center (CCACC). This year, Ms. Rita S. Lewi (Executive Director of CCACC & Director of CCACC Art Gallery) specially invited New York-based artist Dr. Gan Yu to exhibit 16 thought-provoking and visually powerful artworks distinguished by their profound concepts and refined techniques.

E.D. Lewi then invited Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich to deliver remarks. County Executive Elrich thanked CCACC Art Gallery for continuously organizing special exhibitions celebrating AAPI Heritage Month over the years. In his remarks, he highly praised the significant contributions of the Asian American community to Montgomery County's multiculturalism and community development. He also stated that the County government would continue supporting the Asian American community and the development of arts and culture. In recognition of CCACC's longstanding contributions to the community, he presented a proclamation to the organization.

Many of the distinguished guests in attendance were longtime supporters and valued community partners of CCACC and CCACC Art Gallery, including Dr. Clarence K. Lam (Maryland State Senator), Ms. Lily Qi (Maryland State Delegate), Ms. Christina Poy (Administrative Director of the Governor's Office of Community Initiatives), Dr. Yang Yu (Chair of the Governor's Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs), Mr. Maxwell Uy (Montgomery County Sheriff), and Mr. Yi Shen (Asian Liaison from the Montgomery County Office of Community Partnerships).

During the opening reception, Dr. Gan Yu warmly interacted with guests and thoughtfully shared his artistic philosophy and creative journey, guiding audiences into the intellectual and emotional world behind his works. Guests and attendees also wrote messages and reflections on the interactive artwork "A Moving Mountain: Dow Jones' First Decade of the 21st Century," making audience participation itself a distinctive artistic element of the exhibition.

For many years, Dr. Gan Yu has explored the profound relationship between global finance, market systems, and cultural consciousness. He believes that the global financial market represents the largest form of "collective behavioral art" in human history.

This exhibition, titled "Market Forces & Cultural Identity", ingeniously transforms the stock market into a visual medium shaped by the intersection of contemporary politics, economics, technology, culture, and art. Through a unique artistic language, the exhibition portrays the structure and spirit of modern society, inviting deep reflection from viewers.

CCACC Art Gallery warmly invites art enthusiasts and community members to visit the exhibition and experience the humanistic reflections behind market dynamics and the spirit of the times as expressed through art.
