When nurses learn, collaborate, and lead together, patient care grows stronger. 🩺

Members of the UTMB Nursing community recently attended the 2026 Regional Shared Governance Conference, where they connected with nursing professionals from across the region to explore innovative shared governance strategies and leadership practices.

Through interactive learning and peer-to-peer collaboration, participants gained new ideas to strengthen engagement, support evidence-based practice, and enhance nursing excellence throughout our organization.

Healing goes beyond medicine 💙🐶

During a challenging six-week stay at UTMB Health, 16-year-old Lilly Tucker found comfort, encouragement, and a sense of normalcy through visits from therapy dogs.

For patients and families facing difficult healthcare journeys, these special interactions can make a meaningful difference.

More than 70 nurses recently came together for an inspiring Professional Governance Retreat focused on leadership, collaboration, and the future of nursing at UTMB Health. 👏

The day featured a Nursing Senate panel discussion, insights from Dr. Mansfield, PhD, MS, RN, FNAP, NEA-BC, and engaging conversations about communication, standardization, and the continued evolution of our Professional Governance structure. Together, we explored how we can best support and amplify the voice of frontline nurses across our organization. 🩺

Thank you to everyone who attended and to our leaders whose ongoing support helps advance our nursing excellence journey.

For nurses, caring for others is a lifelong commitment. That service, compassion, and dedication deserve to be honored and remembered.

Recently, The Facts featured the Brazoria County Nurse Honor Guard, led by UTMB Angleton-Danbury Campus nurse educator Rebecca Foster, highlighting the meaningful ways the group honors a nurse's final call.

Made up of active and retired nurses, this volunteer organization pays tribute to a nurse's legacy through the Nightingale Tribute, a heartfelt ceremony recognizing a lifetime of service to patients, families, and the community.

From sharing a nurse's story to lighting a commemorative lamp and presenting a white rose, the tribute offers comfort to loved ones while celebrating the lasting impact nurses leave behind.

The Nightingale Tribute serves as a powerful reminder that while a nurse's work may come to an end, their legacy of care lives on.

Synergy, passion, and excellence on display! 👏

On August 10, UTMB Ambulatory Operations proudly hosted its inaugural INSPIRE Improvement Project Poster Session at UTMB Health League City Hospital Campus, showcasing the incredible creativity, dedication, and innovation coming from our Ambulatory managers across all our areas.

With 29 poster submissions representing every Ambulatory area, the event highlighted the remarkable work being done to improve patient care, enhance operational excellence, and advance the patient experience.

Projects addressed a wide range of impactful topics, including streamlining workflows, improving patient satisfaction, strengthening compliance measures, and optimizing clinic operations.

Our third annual Nurse's Compass Conference brought together 150 nurses from across UTMB Health to explore this year's theme, "Bedside to Beyond: Expanding the Nursing Journey."

From inspiring keynote speakers to interactive breakout sessions, the event showcased the innovation, growth, and leadership shaping the future of nursing. 🩺

A heartfelt thank you to our speakers, presenters, Nurse Honor Guard, vendors, educator team, and everyone who attended. Your passion and dedication made this conference unforgettable.

We can't wait to do it again next year!

🦓 The zebras are back and this time they were at our UTMB Health League City Hospital Campus!

This week marked another successful rollout of Zebra communication devices, helping nurses and care teams stay connected, respond faster, and support exceptional patient care.
