Your doctor may already have your medication list… but you should still bring it.

One of the easiest ways to make your appointment more productive is to bring an up-to-date list of everything you’re taking prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and supplements.

Why?

Because guessing the name, dose, or how often you take something can take valuable time and sometimes small details matter when your doctor is making decisions about your care.

Having your medication information readily available allows your provider to quickly see: What you’re currently taking How much you’re taking How often you take it How long you’ve been taking it Whether you’re experiencing side effects or concerns

And that means more time to focus on YOU your symptoms, your questions, your goals, and the next steps in your care.

Before your next appointment: Take a photo of your medication bottles or keep an updated medication list on your phone. It could make your next visit much easier and more productive.

Save this for your next appointment and share it with someone who needs the reminder!

If you had to name every medication you take right now… could you?

It’s easy to think, “I know what I take.” But in an emergency, you may not be the person answering the questions.

That’s why having a simple medication organization system can be so valuable not just for you, but for the people who may need to advocate for your care.

A few simple steps can make a big difference:
✔️ Keep your daily medications together
✔️ Separate your as-needed medications
✔️ Keep an updated medication list with names, doses, and instructions
✔️ Consider keeping a photo or digital copy where you can access it quickly

And remember: your medication list should be updated whenever something changes. A medication that was stopped, a new prescription, or a dosage change can all make a difference when your healthcare team is making decisions about your care.

A little organization today can prevent a lot of confusion tomorrow.

Save this post, share it with a loved one, and take a few minutes today to make sure your medication information is accurate and easy to find.

Your Annual Check-Up Is More Than a Checkbox.

Feeling fine doesn’t always mean everything is fine.

Some health concerns can develop quietly without obvious symptoms or warning signs. Your annual visit gives you an opportunity to look beyond how you feel today and understand what may be happening beneath the surface.

During your annual check-up, we can help you:
➡️ Stay on top of preventive screenings Monitor important health markers Identify potential concerns early ➡️ ➡️ Manage existing health conditions Talk through changes in your health, hormones, lifestyle, and more Create a plan that fits your health goals

Because an annual visit shouldn’t feel like a quick appointment where you check a box and leave.

It should be a conversation about where your health is now and where you want it to go.

At Healing Beyond The Stethoscope Primary Care, we take the time to listen, understand, and create personalized care plans for our patients.

Don’t wait until something feels wrong to start paying attention to your health.

Visit our clinic and schedule your annual check-up today.

When was the last time you checked your cholesterol?

Here’s something important to remember: you don’t have to feel sick to have high cholesterol.

High cholesterol often has no obvious symptoms, which means you could be going about your day feeling perfectly healthy while your numbers are quietly increasing your risk for heart disease, heart attack, and stroke.
That’s why knowing your numbers matters.

Your cholesterol panel gives your doctor a bigger picture of your cardiovascular health and your results should always be considered alongside your age, family history, blood pressure, lifestyle, and other risk factors.
Don’t wait for a problem to start paying attention to your health.

If you’re not sure when you should have your cholesterol checked or what your numbers mean, visit Dr. Ashlie at Healing Beyond The Stethoscope Primary Care. We’re here to help you understand your health and make informed decisions about your care.

Today is my dad’s birthday 🎂

And yes, we celebrate because we love him and because of everything he's done for our family.
But there's another reason every birthday with him matters.

If you’re taking medication and thinking, “It’s not working. Maybe I need a higher dose,” pause before making any changes on your own.

With medications like GLP-1s, including semaglutide, blood sugar can change significantly as the dose increases. Increasing a medication too quickly can sometimes give your body less time to adjust and may increase the risk of serious side effects.

And this isn’t just about GLP-1 medications. The same principle can apply to other prescription medications, including some used for blood pressure and other health conditions.

My advice: If you feel like your medication isn’t working, have a conversation with your doctor before increasing the dose. Your doctor can help you determine whether an adjustment is appropriate, when to make it, and how quickly to do it safely.

Don’t guess with your medication. Let’s make a plan that’s right for YOUR body and your health.

Save this for later and share it with someone who needs the reminder.

Open Enrollment? Don’t Just Look at the Premium.

Open enrollment is more than choosing the plan with the lowest monthly cost. It’s about understanding what your healthcare plan actually covers and what you may have to pay out of pocket.

Before you choose a plan, ask yourself:
▶️ What percentage does my plan cover?Know whether your insurance covers 80% and you pay 20%, or if the split is different.
▶️ How does it handle big-ticket medical expenses?Look closely at coverage for ER visits, hospital stays, surgeries, and diagnostic imaging. These expenses can add up quickly.
▶️ What will I actually owe?Don’t just look at the monthly premium. Review deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and your out-of-pocket maximum so you have a realistic picture of your potential costs.
▶️ Does the plan make sense for my family’s needs? The “best” plan isn’t necessarily the cheapest one. It’s the one that gives you the right balance of coverage, affordability, and access to the care you may need.

Healthcare costs can become a significant financial burden, so taking a little extra time during open enrollment to understand your options can make a big difference.

Open enrollment is your opportunity to make an informed choice. Don’t leave your healthcare to chance.

Visit Dr. Ashlie’s clinic to learn more about taking a proactive approach to your healthcare.

Needles can make even a simple blood draw feel stressful. And that’s okay.

This patient didn’t want to see the needle, started feeling a little hot, and still wanted to know his numbers so he could stay on top of his health.

So we adjusted.

We covered his face so he didn’t have to see the needle. We brought in a fan to help him cool down. We made sure he was comfortable in a reclining chair. And we took a gentle approach with his blood work.

Because taking care of your health isn’t one-size-fits-all.

Sometimes, we BOTH do whatever it takes to make sure your health stays on track.
You deserve healthcare that listens, adapts, and meets you where you are.

Ready to stay on top of your health? Visit the clinic and let’s take care of you.

Running for a Cause. Moving for My Health.

Being a healthcare advocate means more to me than what happens inside the exam room. I believe in showing up for my community and that includes lacing up my running shoes and supporting causes that matter.

I’ve had the opportunity to participate in several runs over the years, and every time I’m reminded of how powerful movement can be.

Staying active doesn’t have to mean running a marathon. It can be walking, dancing, strength training, stretching, or simply finding a way to move your body that feels good to you.

For me, staying active is part of how I take care of myself, and I love being able to combine movement with giving back to my community.

Your health is worth moving for. Your community is worth showing up for.

What’s your favorite way to stay active? And have you ever participated in a run, walk, or fitness event for a cause you care about?

Tell me in the comments!⬇️
