The Kansas City Royals sent us their photos from the game on Tanners birthday :) It was such a blessing for them to honor Tanner and the foundation we have started in his memory.

I had a Dolly Parton CD in my minivan. Tanner loved it. He would request her song "Joshua" on repeat because it's his dads name. I remember in the hospital before the shutdowns were official and we were not allowed in the public spaces/volunteers weren't allowed in anymore, that we went to an art meet up during our first inpatient stay. They asked Tanner to pick the music to play during it and he of course requested Dolly Parton. They thought it was the best thing ever that he sang along to Jolene and 9 to 5 and knew every word 😄.

RIP Dolly. You were extra special to us because you made an impact on him.

Tonight we were blessed to be nominated and chosen for the Buck O'Neil legacy seats at the Kansas City Royals game. They talked about the foundation and the Lego you all have donated over the years that we've been able to give to Children's Mercy patients... And they talked about Tanner...

It was one of the best ways to remember him on his birthday that I could have wished for.

Happy World Turtle day!! We will be raising money to sponsor sea turtle nests and name baby sea turtles in memory of Tanner again this year. He dreamed of one day being able to save baby sea turtles and through these sponsorships we can help honor that dream a small bit.

Tanner’s legacy is built with love, imagination, some LEGOs and a whole lot of heart. 🧱💙

When Tanner dreamed of traveling but couldn’t due to his cancer diagnosis during COVID, Make‑A‑Wish surprised him with a camper he named “The Turtle Tank”—even designing a custom flag to fly from it. That joyful spirit lives on today through the Fill the Turtle Tank LEGO Drive and the work of Teaming up for Tanner Foundation, Inc.

Now in its fourth year, this annual drive collects unopened LEGO kits for kids receiving inpatient care at Children’s Mercy—bringing creativity, comfort and smiles to our patients with nearly $10,000 in LEGO kits donated each year.
