This New Year’s Eve, I finally got to see my vision for Obsidian finally come together, and for my very own wedding! The classy esthetic of this space allowed for effortless elegance and a stress free experience. I already had all the decor and black table and chair covers. I found some floral from Etsy that was the perfect touch and since it is artificial flowers, they will be able to be used for other events here! Perfect P’s Bakery created a stunning cake and CharcuteMe put together a beautiful and delicious grazing table. Blooming Moon Photography captured everything perfectly. Her artistic vision was so beautifully in alignment with this space. I will absolutely be recommending these local creative women to anyone who wants to utilize this space for their special events!
We had around 35 guests, our closest family and friends- which were able to fit comfortably and allowed space for dancing. I have already found multiple ways to configure the space for various events up to 55 people so far.
If you are planning a wedding, I cannot say enough good things about my experience keeping it small and intimate. Weddings especially can quickly become so stressful, taking away from what is truly important. Why do so many of us dish out a fortune for a large production? Inviting so many people to share in our special day, running up a huge tab for catering and drinks- being pulled in so many directions trying to cater to everyone but ourselves. I encourage you to consider a small, intimate wedding. Keep things as affordable, stress free and truly meaningful as possible without having to opt for a courthouse wedding.
There is nothing like being in a cozy space, surrounded by the people who truly love and support you…vowing your commitment to your soul mate. When you know beyond a doubt the people in your presence sharing the day with you are truly your people, people who have had such a significant role in your life, who truly support your happiness…it is magical. I was brought to tears so many times, and so were those who shared the day with us. This space has a way of making you feel so intimately surrounded with love. It is everything I hoped it would be and I can’t wait for so much love and memories to be shared within these walls.
My best friend MaryLynn Lockie who is also an officiant and wedding planner officiated and the 3 of us cried our eyes out through the whole ceremony! Which brings me to my next point- MaryLynn and I are both ordained. We put our heart and soul into the words spoken during the ceremony. We truly feel, having someone officiate who can speak beautifully of your union, will set the tone for your forever. You want vows put together for you that you can reflect on during and after your special day. Vows that will carry you into your forever, spoken by someone who genuinely wants to see your marriage be one that stands the test of time. I absolutely loved getting to put my officiant skills to the test by personally taking the time to write our ceremony, and I can’t wait to have the opportunity to creatively design vows/ceremonies for other couples. Both MaryLynn and I our so excited to be able to offer our officiating services for others. And I can’t thank her enough for putting so much love into officiating my wedding.
I hope to see Obsidian Studios be utilized by so many in 2024. It is my absolute honor to create a space that is so unique and special for our community. A space so well suited for small gatherings like weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, graduations, birthdays, creative workshops, and other special events. I never imagined I would be using it for my very own wedding, but now I can truly say from experience that it is everything I envisioned for it!
