tiny tip Tuesday ✨

If a detox has ever made you feel worse instead of better…
this is usually why.

It’s not that detox “doesn’t work.”

It’s that your pathways aren’t open.

Before your body can eliminate toxins, it needs to move them through:

→ liver + bile
→ digestion + regular bowel movements
→ sweat
→ hydration + kidneys

Here are 3 signs things might be backed up:

You’re not having daily bowel movements
You rarely sweat (even with movement)
You wake up between 1-3am consistently
That’s your body asking for more support, not more restriction.

This is why I don’t jump straight into aggressive detox protocols.

We support the body first…
then we layer in strategies like binders.

Because detox isn’t about doing intensity,
it’s about doing it in the right order.

If you’ve ever done a detox and felt worse…
this might be why.

It’s not just about breaking toxins down..
it’s about getting them out.

That’s where binders come in.

But here’s the nuance most people miss:

🖤 Activated charcoal → powerful, short-term support
🪨 Bentonite clay → more gut-focused, helps bind toxins in the digestive tract
🌿 Chlorella → gentle, food-based option for ongoing support
🌱 Cilantro → helps mobilize toxins… but needs a binder alongside it

Without proper binding and elimination,
you risk reabsorbing what your body worked hard to process.

And more is not better here.

Binders are tools, not daily forever habits.

This is exactly why a more structured approach to detox matters.

If you’re doing all the “right” things…
working out, clean eating, protein, veggies…
but still feeling tired, flat, or craving sugar by 3pm…

👉 You might be under-eating carbs. I personally did this for years.

And no, this isn’t a free pass to hit the bread basket. Processed carbs should still be limited.

This is about fueling your body properly, especially in midlife.

When carbs are too low:
• cortisol goes up
thyroid function suffers
• energy goes down
• cravings get louder
• workouts feel harder

I see this all the time, women eating beautiful, “perfect” meals…
That simply isn’t enough.

Try this instead:
Add a quality carb to 1–2 meals today:
• roasted sweet potato
• berries or fruit
• quinoa or root veggies

Watch what happens to your energy, mood, and cravings.

Sometimes the issue isn’t eating too much…
it’s not eating enough of what your body actually needs.

Tiny Tip Tuesday ✨

You don’t need more motivation… you need better accountability.

There’s a reason group fitness works. It’s not just the workout, it’s the energy, the connection, and the unspoken “you showed up, so I will too.”

When you surround yourself with people who are committed to growth, you naturally rise to meet them. Less overthinking, more doing.

On the days you don’t feel like it?
That’s exactly when your people carry you through.

Find your community. Schedule the workout week and have someone who notices when you don’t show 👀

Even if you’re not into group fitness, use something like , have a person, a trainer, a coach who holds your feet to the 🔥 . For most of us willpower and motivation are simply not enough!

Because consistency is a lot easier when you’re not doing it alone.

Tiny Tip Tuesday💫

If you feel like a bottomless pit in your late luteal phase… you’re not alone, your body is just asking for support.

This is when I intentionally add a protein + carb snack to keep blood sugar stable, energy up, and cravings from running the show.

Lately, it’s been my go-to:
Greek yogurt + chia + berries with cacao. Because chocolate 🍫 . Simple. Balanced. Effective.

Because white-knuckling your way through cravings?
That’s not discipline, that’s a setup for a kitchen disaster at some point. Willpower is BS.

Work with your body, not against it.

Over the past few years, one of the most meaningful parts of my work has been watching women come together around health, learning, and real conversation. With that in mind, I’m excited to introduce something new to the Feed Mind Body Soul community.

The Feed Mind Body Soul Book Club: Soul Sisters

This will be a space for women to gather, learn, and discuss books centered around health, wellness, and living well in midlife. We’ll meet approximately every 6 weeks to talk about ideas that help us better understand our bodies, our health, and how to age well.

Our first meeting will be:

Tuesday, May 12
6:30 PM
Geneva Public Library + Zoom

In-person space will be limited to a max of 20 participants due to space, but a Zoom option will be available for anyone who would like to join virtually.

The cost to participate in each book club meeting will be $20, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Geneva Community Chest, supporting local organizations that help our community thrive.

Our first book will be:

The New Perimenopause by
(release date April 7th, currently on pre-order)

This book is an excellent starting point for women navigating perimenopause and menopause, covering topics like hormones, metabolism, sleep, and strength as we move through midlife. If you are already in menopause, I still feel this content can be VERY relevant to where you are, so do not let that dictate your participation. I've also read her prior book, The New Menopause, and I'm nearly 55 myself, so there is that!

My hope is that this becomes a warm, welcoming space where women can learn, share experiences, and support each other on the journey toward better health.

I would love to see you there.
