This client wanted a softer smile with less gum show when smiling. We treated her with a combination of a gummy smile correction and a lip flip for a natural, balanced result.

💉 What is a gummy smile treatment?
A gummy smile treatment uses a small amount of neurotoxin (Botox/Dysport/Daxxify/Xeomin) to relax the muscles that pull the upper lip too high when you smile. This allows the lip to sit slightly lower, reducing the amount of gum tissue that shows.

💋 What is a lip flip?
A lip flip uses neurotoxin around the upper lip to gently relax the muscles, causing the lip to “flip” outward. This can make the upper lip appear fuller and more defined without adding volume with filler.

For this client, we used just 1 syringe of filler total to address the perioral area (the skin surrounding the mouth) and the chin.

What are perioral lines?
Perioral lines are the small vertical lines that form around the lips over time. They’re often called “lip lines” or “smoker’s lines,” although they can develop even if you’ve never smoked. Repeated facial movements, natural collagen loss, sun exposure, and aging all contribute to their appearance.

How does filler help?
Dermal filler works by restoring lost volume beneath the skin. When strategically placed around the mouth, it can soften etched-in lines and create smoother-looking skin without changing the natural shape of your lips. Filler placed in the chin can improve projection, support the lower face, and help create a more harmonious balance between the lips, chin, and jawline.
