🚨 Stop treating my ADHD child like a behaviour problem to be fixed.
It is hurting him. And watching his confidence disappear is breaking my heart.
You see unfinished work and think, “He needs to try harder.”
He may be struggling to find the first step.
You see forgotten instructions and think, “He never listens.”
He may struggle to hold those steps in his mind long enough to use them.
You see frustration and think, “He needs to learn some respect.”
He may need help managing a feeling that has become too big.
Before you judge the behaviour, please get curious about what got in the way.
Because when every struggle becomes another telling-off, the lesson he takes away may be:
“Something is wrong with me.”
My child needs help learning how to start, remember and manage frustration—without learning to dislike himself.
We can hold boundaries, help him repair harm AND teach the skills he needs.
