At Olivia's House, we are always looking for ways to strengthen our adjunctive therapy network. Time spent with dedicated professionals like Jen, of Songbird Counseling in Gettyburg, helps us do just that. 💙

We were especially excited to learn more about her recent work supporting law enforcement officers and their families, a community that often faces unique challenges and stressors. Building relationships with trusted partners helps us better understand the resources available throughout our region and ensures that families can access the support they need, when they need it most. Today, Songbird Counseling Services celebrates 5 years of providing outpatient therapy services to Gettysburg and surrounding areas!

To say running a private practice is always easy would be a grossly unfair statement. Insurances can be complicated, the work can be emotionally taxing, and even the scheduling can be complicated (hello summer schedules! 🙃)

However, I remain humbled by the privilege to walk alongside those seeking regulation, resolution, and repair. It is an honor every hour, of every day, to be part of client’s journeys.

So to the community that welcomed me 5 years ago, to the colleagues that have supported me, and to the all of the clients that have allowed me to walk beside them over the past 5 years - thank you! ✨

And the art therapist in me had to include a picture, so here’s the artwork from the office entrance with a little motivation for all of us on this Monday:

Tuesday Thoughts 💕

I don't know where you are right now. Not physically, but emotionally. I don't know what is on your plate or what you are dealing with or what you are feeling. I don't know how heavy the world feels or what is scary or exciting.

But I do know this - you matter.
You are so important.
You are valuable and wonderful.
You are needed.

You bring joy.

You are enough.

You make a difference.

So instead of clenching onto all the emotions or feeling like a tightly wound spring, I just want you to dare to take a breath and to let go.

Just a bit.

To get that breath.

And in the breath, in the inhale, breathe in truth and peace and comfort and joy.

Mental health is a complicated picture that is impacted by a variety of other aspects. I spent part of the day at the Healthy Adams County Forum to determine what the goals for the Behavioral Health Task Force will be for the next 3 years. It’s an ambitious process given the amount of stress the residents in this county are under - food insecurity, housing concerns, substance use, financial anxiety and mental health concerns continue to rise. Grateful to the folks who continue to turn out to pave a path forward…we are certainly stronger as a team.
