“I tried turmeric, but it didn’t work.”

I hear versions of this all the time. And my next questions are usually: How much? How often? What formulation? What brand?

There’s a reason I ask.

With botanicals, the product and formulation can matter. Two products that both say “turmeric” on the label may not be equivalent in terms of composition or bioavailability.

But there’s another important point: higher doses aren’t automatically better, and supplements aren’t a substitute for appropriate rheumatoid arthritis treatment.

The goal is to understand what was actually tried, what the evidence supports, and how it fits safely into the bigger picture.

Did you know that most people who lose weight through crash dieting gain it back within a few months? 😔

The reason behind this is actually quite simple.

When we suddenly start eating very little, the body treats it as a threat, as if a famine is happening. To protect itself, the body slows down its metabolism so it can survive on whatever calories it's getting.

At this stage, the body starts breaking down muscle first, not fat, because muscle requires more energy to maintain.

Now here's the real problem: with less muscle, your body burns fewer calories than before. So when you go back to eating normally, your body can't properly burn off those extra calories. Instead, it stores them. As a result, weight comes back quickly, sometimes even more than before.

So what should you do?
- Reduce calories gradually, not suddenly
- Eat enough protein so your muscle doesn't break down
- Keep doing light exercise or strength training
- Focus on sustainable habits instead of quick results

Consume more healthy fats, not trans or hydrogenated ones.

Remember, weight loss isn't a race; it's a long-term journey. Weight lost slowly but correctly is the weight that stays off. 💚

If you have any questions, let me know in the comments. I'll try to answer them.

More isn’t always better. Less isn’t always enough.

When it comes to supplements, meaningful results often depend on more than simply taking a product. How it’s meant to be used, how consistently it’s used, and how each person responds all matter.

Before deciding that something “doesn’t work,” it’s worth considering whether it was given a fair opportunity to work. And when the goal is to adjust the amount over time, that decision should be guided by how your body responds, not guesswork.

A thoughtful conversation with , ND, about taking a more intentional approach to supplementation rather than making assumptions.

A valuable listen for anyone interested in a more informed, personalized approach to health.

Allergy symptoms don’t always tell the whole story.

Sneezing, nasal congestion, itchy or watery eyes, coughing, or a constantly runny nose can all be signs that your immune system is responding to something in your environment.

Common inhalant allergens include pollen, dust mites, trees, grasses, mold spores, and pet dander. And if you’re repeatedly exposed to a trigger, symptoms may continue to flare.

This is why it can be helpful to look beyond simply managing symptoms and consider what may be triggering them in the first place.

Sometimes, the question isn’t just, “How can I feel better?”
It’s also, “What am I being exposed to?”

If your allergy symptoms keep coming back, paying attention to your environment may be an important part of understanding the bigger picture.

Some doctors had to practice medicine in secret.

Not because it didn't work. Because if their own colleagues found out, it could have ended their careers.

Dr. Todd Born shares a story that stuck with Jeffrey Burke. A family physician took a 500-hour homeopathy course decades ago. He ended up seeing patients after hours, behind closed doors, just to practice medicine he actually believed in.

That fear of being judged never really left medicine. It shapes an entire generation of how doctors are trained to think.

But something is finally shifting it. Patients are asking harder questions than ever, and medicine is being forced to catch up.

Your thyroid labs came back “normal,” but you’re still feeling tired, experiencing changes in your weight, struggling to focus, or simply feeling like your body isn’t working the way it used to?

This is a common frustration we hear from new patients: their lab results appear to be within the standard range, yet they still don’t feel like themselves.

One reason may be that a single test does not always tell the whole story when it comes to understanding thyroid function.

TSH is an important part of thyroid evaluation. However, depending on your symptoms and individual health history, additional tests such as Free T3, Free T4, and thyroid antibodies may provide more information about what’s happening with your thyroid.

It’s also important to remember that lab results are only one part of the picture. Understanding how you feel may also require looking at your symptoms, health history, and other relevant test results together.

So if your report says “normal,” but you’re still thinking:

“But I don’t feel well…”

That concern is worth paying attention to.

A lab report can provide valuable information, but your symptoms and overall health story matter too.

Have you ever been told that your thyroid was “fine,” even though you still felt that something wasn’t quite right?

We love this list.

Your body can't tell the difference between real danger and a phone buzzing in your pocket. Both make your body go on alert.

Every scroll, every ping, every notification pulls your attention away. Over time, this makes it harder to focus, harder to relax, and harder to feel calm.

But your body knows how to calm down too.

A quiet morning. A walk with no headphones. A real conversation. A few minutes of just sitting still. These small things help your body relax and heal.

Health isn't only about food. It's also about what you see, hear, and think every day.

Sometimes the best medicine isn't a pill. It's simply giving your mind and body a break.

Which one will you try this week? 👇

Let's talk about something most weight-loss conversations get wrong: obesity isn't about willpower.

Worldwide, over 1 billion people live with obesity today. Nearly half of all U.S. adults meet the clinical threshold, and so do 1 in 5 U.S. children and teens (ages 2–19). These aren't numbers about laziness. They're numbers about hormones, gut health, chronic inflammation, sleep, and stress, factors that shape how our bodies store and burn energy long before diet or exercise even enter the picture.

The real risk isn't the number on the scale. It's what obesity does quietly in the background: raising the odds of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and certain cancers, starting earlier in life than most people realize.

Here's the part worth sitting with: when the root cause gets addressed instead of just the symptom, this is a condition that responds to treatment, at any age. That's where real, lasting change starts.

Have you ever felt like you were "doing everything right" and still not seeing results?

Ever wonder why some people swear by fish oil while others say "it never did anything for me"?

Turns out, omega-3 works best under the right conditions, and small everyday habits make a bigger difference than most people realize.

Here's what actually helps:

- Cut back on fried food and vegetable oils. They compete with omega-3 in your body, so less of them means your omega-3 has more room to actually work.

- Eat fatty fish 2-3 times a week. Real food sources absorb differently than supplements alone, and your body benefits from both.

- Test, don't guess your dose. Everyone processes omega-3 differently. A simple test tells you exactly where you stand, instead of hoping the bottle's dose is right for you.

Small shifts. Real results.

Curious about your own numbers? Comment "OMEGA" and we'll walk you through getting tested.

Last time, we covered why you can't feel your omega-3 levels. Here's the next piece of the puzzle.

Your body doesn't process omega-3 in isolation. There's another fat, omega-6, sitting in most vegetable oils, fried foods, and packaged snacks, and it's fighting for the exact same job in your cells.

The imbalance is bigger than most people realize. We evolved eating these two fats in close to equal amounts. Today, the average diet runs at roughly 15 times more omega-6 than omega-3. That gap alone can undercut a supplement that should otherwise be working just fine.

This is part of why dosage alone isn't the full story. What's competing against your omega-3 matters just as much as how much you're taking.
