Such a fun night. We loved connecting with everyone and getting to share more about nervous system health, EMDR, and integrative healing with the community. Thank you Yelp Phoenix for partnering with us and everyone who came out. đź’™

Some Sundays are for the team.

Last Sunday we hosted our own Self-Care Sunday at the practice. A sound bath led by , a healthy lunch, and time spent learning about human design together.

Healing work asks a lot from the people who do it. Days like this are how we make sure the people showing up for others are also showing up for themselves.

Grateful for the connection, the stillness, and for Shari for holding such a grounding experience for our team.

Grounding is not about emptying your mind.

Most people abandon grounding techniques the moment they notice it is not making them feel calm. They assume it is not working. What they are actually doing is measuring the wrong outcome.

Grounding was never designed to stop the thoughts or silence what is loud inside. It is designed to give your body one clear point of contact while everything else is moving. A breath. A surface beneath your feet. A single sound in the room.

The goal is not calm. The goal is presence. The ability to stay in contact with where you actually are, even when what you are feeling has not settled yet.

You do not have to feel calm to come back to yourself. You just have to find one thing that is real right now and follow it.

Inhale. Exhale. Return.

Healing does not happen in a vacuum.

Behind every session, every breakthrough, every moment a client finally feels safe enough to go somewhere they have been avoiding for years, there is a person who chose to show up for that. Consistently. Carefully. Without rushing the process.

This is the team at EMDR Transformations Counseling.

They are not here because it is a job. They are here because they understand what it costs to sit with someone in their hardest material and hold the space without flinching. That kind of presence is not something you perform. It is something you build, session after session, client after client.

Meet the people behind the healing.

Someone can hear every word you say and still miss what you mean.

Most people have experienced this. You explain something clearly. The other person responds. And somehow you leave the conversation feeling more alone than before you started.

That is not always about the other person failing you. Sometimes it is about the limits of what words can carry. The part that actually needs to be understood is not in the sentences. It is in everything that shaped why those sentences matter to you in the first place.

Understanding is not about accuracy. It is about someone tracking the full weight of what you are bringing, not just the surface content.

You deserve a space where that lands. Not just the parts that are easy to articulate. All of it.

05/22/2026

You did not decide to grow apart.
It happened in the space between who you were and who you are becoming.

Most people carry guilt about this. They review the timeline, looking for the moment they chose wrong, the conversation that went sideways, the point where they should have done something differently.

But growing apart from people you genuinely loved is not always the result of a rupture. Sometimes it is the natural consequence of becoming someone your former relationships were never designed to hold.

The relationships that formed around a version of you that no longer exists are not failures. They are evidence that something in you actually changed.

Not every relationship was built to hold both versions of you. And that is not a loss you need to explain or apologize for.

There is a particular kind of stuck that does not respond to effort.

You have read the books. You have shown up to sessions. You have done the journaling, the somatic work, the inner child letters. You understand your patterns intellectually. And still, something underneath has not budged.

This is not about commitment. It is not about whether you are doing therapy ""right."" Some memories live in a part of the brain that protective mechanisms keep sealed off, and no amount of willingness alone can open that door. The system was designed to keep that material out of reach for a reason. It was protecting you when you needed protecting.

Ketamine Assisted EMDR Therapy was developed for the work that lives on the other side of that protection. Not to override your system. To lower the volume on the part that has been guarding the door, so the reprocessing work can actually reach what has been waiting.

If this resonates, the first conversation is free. Link in bio or call the office to schedule with Julie or Deana.

Sometimes distance appears
before you’ve fully thought through why.

Pulling back can become familiar in environments where staying emotionally present once felt difficult, overwhelming, or unsafe. Over time, space begins to feel more manageable than remaining fully engaged in the moment.

The pattern often continues quietly. Not always because the current situation calls for it, but because the mind has learned that creating distance reduces discomfort, tension, or emotional exposure.

What makes this difficult is that the habit can show up automatically, even in relationships or situations where connection is actually possible.

A helpful place to begin is paying attention to when the urge to withdraw appears, and asking whether the present moment truly requires distance, or if an older pattern is taking over.

A few photos from today's planning meeting with Salt River Fire Department.

Deana and I had the opportunity to meet with members of leadership and behavioral health to outline the process and logistics for upcoming onsite wellness assessments taking place this August, September, and October.

We appreciate the department's proactive approach to supporting the mental health and wellness of their crews.

These conversations matter, and it's encouraging to see departments continuing to invest in prevention, education, and culturally competent support for first responders.

We're looking forward to partnering together in the months ahead.

Moving quickly can become so familiar that it no longer feels noticeable.

Over time, a constant pace can start to feel more comfortable than slowing down, especially for people who became used to staying mentally or physically “on” for long periods of time.

The difficulty is that urgency can continue even when the situation itself no longer requires it. What once felt adaptive can quietly become automatic.

A useful step is to occasionally pause and ask whether your current pace actually matches the moment you’re in, or if you’re still operating from habit.
