🧠 Your Brain, Your Gut, Your Hormones: They're All Connected

Ever wonder how your gut, hormones, or cortisol levels might be affecting your mood, focus, or energy? You're not imagining it — these systems are talking to each other constantly, and when something's off, it doesn't always show up on a standard lab panel.

Join us for a free live webinar, Functional Brain Health 101, with our naturopathic doctor, Dr. Alice Veirs, ND.

We'll cover:
🧠 How gut health, hormones, inflammation, and cortisol patterns influence brain function
🔬 Why standard bloodwork and one-size-fits-all treatments often miss the full picture
🌱 Natural intervention options to explore further or bring to your own doctor

Whether you're a current client, a mental health provider, working with a therapist or psychiatrist, or just curious about a whole-person approach to brain health — this talk is for you.

📅 Wednesday, September 2nd
🕕 6:00 PM MST
⏱️ 1 hour — 45-minute presentation + 15-minute live Q&A

Ever wish you could be friends with your doctor? 😅

As a naturopathic doctor, one of the best parts of my job is getting to know incredible people. My patients make me laugh, inspire me, teach me, and remind me why I love practicing integrative medicine.

But… professional boundaries matter. ❤️

The therapeutic relationship works because it’s built on trust, objectivity, and a space that’s 100% about you. Even when I think, “We’d totally be friends in another life,” protecting that relationship always comes first.

Anyone else in a helping profession relate? 👇

“okay but can we just talk about that email for two seconds… and then we’ll be done” 🫠🙈

Shame has gotten a really bad rap. 👀

You’ve probably heard the classic distinction: guilt is “I did something bad,” shame is “I am bad” — and the takeaway is usually that guilt is healthy and shame is the villain.

But that’s not the whole story.

Guilt points to behavior. “I did something that didn’t align with my values” — and it moves us to change what we do.

Healthy shame points to identity — but in a good way. It’s what shows up when we reflect on our values and who we’re being, and it can actually transform our character for the better. It’s uncomfortable, but it’s doing its job.

Here’s the catch: healthy shame only stays healthy if it’s spoken. The moment it goes unvoiced — held in silence instead of shared with someone safe — it starts to curdle. What began as “I want to grow” slowly hardens into “I am bad,” and that’s how healthy shame turns toxic.

Toxic shame is that buried version — the belief that we are inherently bad, unworthy, or not enough. It’s not reflection anymore, it’s identity collapse. And it’s where people get stuck in cycles of self-sabotage, hiding, or shutting down.

So shame isn’t the enemy — silence is. Speaking shame out loud is what builds shame resilience and keeps it from calcifying into who we think we are.

*This is educational content only and not a substitute for therapy. If shame feels heavy or like it’s running the show, a good therapist can help you sort out which kind you’re dealing with and give you a safe place to say it out loud. This content won’t apply to everyone.
