🐾❤️ KARMA IS HOME! ❤️🐾

Considering where she was on Friday—found down and in acute liver failure—Karma is doing absolutely amazing.

She definitely isn’t 100% yet. It’s almost like she has a form of amnesia. She remembers us, but she doesn’t remember many of the things she knew before.

Karma has always been highly trained. Simple commands like “sit” or “down” used to be second nature to her. Now she just looks at me like she’s trying to figure out what I’m asking. She doesn’t remember how to use the doggy door, and some of her normal routines seem completely unfamiliar.

One thing that surprised me is that she has always hated car rides. Now she happily jumps in the car and lays down in the back seat like she’s done it her whole life. ❤️

While it’s heartbreaking to see her confused, we are beyond grateful that she’s still here with us. Every day she is making progress.

The specialists told us it could take a month or more for her liver enzymes to continue trending down and for her body to fully recover. We still have a long road ahead with medications, special food, follow-up appointments, and repeat lab work.

Right now she refuses dog food and will only eat canned chicken, so we’re slowly introducing her prescription food by mixing it with her medications and small amounts of her regular food.

Thank you to everyone who has prayed, donated, shared her story, and checked on her. We truly believe Karma is a miracle. Please continue to pray for her healing and recovery. 🙏🐾❤️

Seeing her laying here peacefully at home is something I wasn’t sure we’d get to see just a few days ago. ❤️🐾🥹

I honestly wasn’t sure Karma would still be here tonight.

This morning, I watched Karma become so confused she didn’t recognize me. She was running into walls, circling, acting blind and deaf, and completely lost.

Tonight, for the first time, I saw a glimpse of my girl again.

She stood up.

She whined at the kennel door.

She wagged her tail.

She went outside and went potty on her own.

They’re small things, but after the day we’ve had, they felt like miracles.

The hardest part is that we’ve completely exhausted our funds. We’ve already spent over $5,000, and we only had enough money to cover her treatment for the first 24 hours.

The treatment appears to be helping, but Karma needs more time and more care.

If you’ve donated, shared, prayed, or simply checked on her, thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Please keep sharing her story. She’s fighting her way back to us, and I’m not ready to give up on her.

May 2024 was the beginning of a journey I never saw coming. An autoimmune disease knocked me flat and forced me to take a hard look at every part of my life.

I spent the last year learning everything I could and doing everything in my power to heal myself through mindset, movement, and nutrition. I’ve mastered the mind and body part—now I’m focused on food and my environment.

Along the way, I quit my job, held people accountable when accountability was long overdue, found a new home, and applied for my next big adventure as a flight nurse.

Midlife crisis? Maybe. But honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever felt this good in my entire life.

Now I’m waiting—somewhat impatiently—for an answer about what comes next. I know I don’t interview well. I get nervous, I overthink, and I sweat through the process. But I’m hopeful they saw beyond that and recognized the nurse, leader, and person I truly am.

I should know something by Tuesday.

No matter what happens, life is good. ❤️
