💙 Sometimes the greatest gift is simply not being alone.

Our companionship volunteers spend at least an hour a week with patients — talking, listening, taking a short walk, doing a craft, sitting outside, or simply being present.

For some patients, that volunteer may become an important part of their support system.
We also have bereavement volunteers who continue supporting families after a loved one passes.

Hospice volunteering is about connection, comfort, and showing up when it matters most.

The rain didn’t stop us from celebrating the ’80s at Cogir of Peoria for Spirit Week! 🎶🕺

We enjoyed the throwback fashion, ’80s music from our amazing musician, and some incredible dance moves! Cogir is a wonderful community with a truly top-notch staff. We’re excited to continue working alongside them as they care for and support their residents. 🧡

Hospice volunteers can share music, companionship, activities, life stories, photos, recipes, and simply their time.

No medical experience is required — just training, a background check, TB screening, and drug screening.

💙 Sometimes volunteering is simply showing up.

One of our volunteers visits a patient who is no longer verbal. They sit together, listen to music, and hold hands. When the patient wakes up and recognizes their volunteer, their whole face lights up.

Another volunteer plays guitar at a group home, and one resident recently told him, “You better come back next week — this is my favorite time of the week.” 🎶
That’s the beauty of hospice volunteering: real relationships, meaningful moments, and something to look forward to.
