Wait… THESE are protein cinnamon rolls?! 🤤
Soft, warm, gooey, covered in cream cheese frosting, and made with Vanilla IsaLean Shake. Because staying on track doesn’t mean every bite has to feel like a compromise. Sometimes it can look a whole lot like cinnamon rolls fresh from the oven. 😍
Protein Cinnamon Rolls
Dough:
• ½ cup plus 2 tbsp. warm water or milk, 120–130°F
• 1 tbsp. sugar
• 1 packet (¼ oz.) fast-acting yeast
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
• ½ cup IsaLean Shake, Vanilla
Filling:
• 2 tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
• 1 tbsp. cinnamon
• 2 tbsp. sugar
Cream Cheese Frosting:
• 2 oz. light cream cheese
• 2 tbsp. unsalted butter, softened
• ½ tsp. vanilla extract
• ⅛ tsp. salt
• ½ cup powdered sugar
• milk, added gradually to reach desired consistency (start with 2–3 tsp.)
Directions:
1️⃣ Warm the water or milk to 120–130°F. Stir in 1 tbsp. sugar and the yeast. Whisk until dissolved, then let stand for 10 minutes.
2️⃣ Slowly stir in the flour, then add 1 tbsp. melted butter and the IsaLean Shake. Mix until a dough forms. It should be just slightly sticky. Add more flour if needed.
3️⃣ Knead on a floured surface for 5 minutes.
4️⃣ Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place 10–20 minutes, until doubled.
5️⃣ Briefly knead again, then roll into a 14 × 8-inch rectangle.
6️⃣ Brush with the 2 tbsp. melted butter, then sprinkle with the cinnamon and the 2 tbsp. sugar.
7️⃣ Roll tightly from one long side, seal the edge, and cut into 8 rolls. Place in a greased 9-inch round or square pan.
8️⃣ Preheat oven to 325°F. Let the rolls rise again in the pan while the oven heats.
9️⃣ Bake 8–10 minutes. Check frequently near the end, as recipes with protein powder can overbake fast.
🔟 While baking, beat the cream cheese, butter, vanilla, and salt together, then mix in the powdered sugar until smooth. Add the milk, a little at a time, until the frosting reaches the desired consistency.
1️⃣1️⃣ Spread frosting over the warm rolls, and serve.
