”Hello sun in my face”
I’m craving the sunlight as the days are getting shorter! I just returned from a week at the Cape with my family. Up and out every morning to see the sun rise no matter the weather. What a boost to start the day. Driving home the Mary Oliver poem “Why I Wake Early” popped into my head; the words didn’t come to me, just the feel. When I got home I dug out my copy of the book, a gift to each of us from Mom I think, and read the poem out loud. Three times, that’s how she always read poems so that she could really take them in.
I love the sunlight mostly because it feels good. Everything is possible in the morning. We need the morning light because it helps set our circadian rhythm, boosts our melatonin and gives a better night sleep in the process.
I love this poem because, well…..read it and see how it makes you feel. “Watch, now, how I start the day in happiness, in kindness”.
How do you bring sunlight into your day?
