The results are in! 👀

June 1-7 is CPR and AED Awareness Week, and we had three 💫stars💫 from Central Virginia competing to see who can get the highest score on our Mobile CPR Training Kiosk.

⭐ Deanna Albrittin, ABC 8 News
⭐ Kelsey Jones, CBS 6 News
⭐ Desiree Montilla, 12 On Your Side

Each of these stars visited our friends at Richmond Ambulance Authority to learn Hands-Only CPR from their American Heart Association-certified trainer. Then they went to the Kiosk at Henrico Sports and Events Center to test their skills.

Every new lifesaver is a win for our community. ❤️ Thank you to Deanna, Kelsey and Desiree for participating!

Yesterday we had the pleasure of presenting SIX Heartsaver Awards to local lifesavers at The Richmond Ambulance Authority. ❤️

Each year, more than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of the hospital in the United States – and 90% of these are fatal. EMS personnel represent the front lines of medicine. They work every day to improve statistics like these and ensure more people are receiving fast, effective care that can be the difference between life and death for patients.

The American Heart Association salutes EMS personnel for their important work, courage and dedication. Thank you for all you do to save lives in our community. ❤️

ICYMI: You can now check your blood pressure at your nearest location!

In March, we talked to staff at the Elizabeth Randolph Lewis Powhatan YMCA about why they are excited to see this resource come to their branch. Since then, the American Heart Association has placed blood pressure stations at all the remaining branches.

Nearly half of adults in the U.S. have high blood pressure, and many don’t even know it. High blood pressure is often called a “silent killer” because it usually has no symptoms.

Stop by today to start taking control of your blood pressure. Learn more about your readings and what they mean at heart.org/BP.
