Always feeling stiff and tight after pickleball?👇🏼

Think about what you’re asking your body to do every time you step on the court…

Lunging, reaching, accelerating, stopping, and changing directions. Over and over again.

If your body isn’t adequately prepared for those demands, it’s no surprise that you might feel pretty beat up afterward.

Your first instinct might be to stretch more, but.. what if part of the solution is getting STRONGER⁉️

Two exercises I LOVE for my 55+ pickleball players:

▪️Lateral Lunges: Build strength and control for those side-to-side movements.

▪️Dumbbell Deadlifts: Strengthen your hips and legs to better produce and absorb force.

The goal is to build a body that can better tolerate the demands of the sport you love.. because playing more does not automatically do it

Don’t hate me, but..👇🏼

Playing MORE pickleball isn’t always the answer to becoming a BETTER pickleball player👀

Drilling? Essential.

Recreational play? Valuable.

Tournaments? Important.

But none of these completely replace the benefits of developing a well-rounded ATHLETE.

That’s where intentional strength, speed, and power development come into play..

Take sprinting, for example.. When programmed appropriately, it provides a unique stimulus that can help develop👇🏼

▪️Acceleration and first-step explosiveness
▪️Force production and lower-body power
▪️Deceleration and stopping ability (with appropriate drills)
▪️A foundation for multidirectional speed and change of direction

The goal isn’t to replace time ON the court. It’s to complement it with training OFF the court.

Parents and coaches: Are your young athletes doing any structured speed or strength training outside of their sport⁉️

This is exactly why I practice PT “differently”

One-on-one care. Hour long appointments. No getting passed off to someone else. A plan built around what YOU want to get back to doing — and continued support outside of your appointments to make sure you are taken fully care of.

If pain or an injury has been keeping you from playing, training, or doing the things you enjoy, shoot me a message and love to talk!

Playing more pickleball does NOT automatically make you a better pickleball player👀

For youth athletes especially, long-term development takes more than stacking rec games and tournaments every week.

It takes👇🏼

▪️Countless reps at practice
▪️Targeted drilling to improve fundamentals + mechanics
▪️Strength to build a more resilient athlete
▪️Speed, power + multidirectional movement
▪️And then opportunities to put it all together in competition

The goal isn’t just to create a better pickleball player today — it’s to build the athlete AND the player for the long run.

I’m fortunate to work with Monster Athlete Juniors alongside goats josh_pickleballteacher & Jackson Lee to help develop the next generation of pickleball athletes Center Court Pickleball Glendale

And big S/O to Crossover Symmetry for giving us another great tool to incorporate shoulder prep into the process!💪🏼

Practice. Drill. Train. Compete. Repeat.

That’s long-term player development📈

Pickleball is exposing something most 55+ players aren’t training 👇🏼

And it’s not your serve, your third-shot drop, or how much weight you can lift…

It’s your ability to MOVE‼️

React. Change direction. Get to a ball outside your base of support. And then recover without losing your balance or position.

Strength is important — but eventually you have to teach your body to use that strength quickly and in multiple directions.

That’s especially important for 55+ pickleball players who want to keep playing at a high level.

A few minutes of movement training can go a long way:
▪️ Split-step timing
▪️ Lateral movement
▪️ Drop steps + turning
▪️ Deceleration
▪️ Recovering back into position

📌 SAVE this and start adding movement training to your week.

📍If you’re a 55+ pickleball player in the Phoenix/Glendale area looking to improve your strength, movement Center Court Pickleball Glendale, and ability to stay on the court, MESSAGE me “MOVE”

Nothing reinforces a lesson on handling power quite like getting body bagged 5 seconds later😂

Power is about a lot more than hitting the ball harder.. Positioning, intent, knowing when to attack👇🏼

Anddd knowing how to handle it coming back at you🤷🏼‍♂️

You probably need MORE days off👇🏼

But as a pickleball player.. that does not mean sacrificing a strength training day🤷🏼‍♂️

One of the biggest mistakes I see from players is spreading activity across all 7 days of the week.

Pickleball Monday.
Strength Tuesday.
Pickleball Wednesday.
Strength Thursday.
And before you know it… you haven’t had a true recovery day all week❌

Instead, consider STACKING some of your training.

If you’re already playing pickleball, adding your strength training later that same day can allow you to consolidate the stress on your body — and actually create full recovery days during the week.

For example:

🏓 Monday: Pickleball + Strength
😴 Tuesday: Recovery
🏓 Wednesday: Pickleball
🏋️ Thursday: Strength
🏓 Friday: Pickleball + Strength
😴 Weekend: RECOVER

Your body doesn’t get stronger during the workout itself.. it gets stronger when it has time to RECOVER and ADAPT to the work you’re asking it to do.

Especially for 55+ pickleball players, the goal isn’t to train 7 days a week if you want to stay on the court for years to come‼️
