"Is neurofeedback safe?"
"Will it replace therapy?"
"How quickly will we notice changes?"

If you've had questions like these, you're not alone.

When parents first hear about neurofeedback, they usually want clear answers—not complicated explanations.

The Neuro Program is designed to work alongside therapy, psychiatric care, family involvement, and ongoing clinical treatment. It's one part of a broader approach to understanding and supporting your teen's care.

In this carousel, we're answering some of the questions families ask us most often.

Questions are welcome.

What does a brain map actually measure - and why does it matter in treatment?
A QEEG brain map gathers information about:

• brainwave activity
• communication between brain regions
• overall brain patterns at that moment in time

For families, that can mean a clearer understanding of what may be contributing to challenges with focus, stress regulation, sleep, or emotional functioning.

For the clinical team, it’s additional information reviewed alongside therapy, psychiatric care, family input, and day-to-day observations to help guide treatment decisions.
No single measurement tells the whole story.
That’s why the Neurofeedback Program is designed to support care - not replace it.

Questions are welcome - we’ll explain what this looks like in real life.

Not every coping strategy works for every teen.

Some teens benefit from movement. Others feel more regulated through structure, connection, creative outlets, or grounding tools. The goal isn’t finding one perfect strategy - it’s understanding what helps your teen feel more steady and supported over time.

Coping skills often work best when they fit naturally into everyday life and feel realistic enough to use consistently.

Small tools can make a difference.

QEEG and Neurofeedback can sound complicated at first. The simple version: one helps measure brain activity, the other uses that information as part of a broader treatment process.

QEEG creates a baseline by gathering information about brainwave patterns. Neurofeedback sessions then become one part of a larger clinical approach alongside therapy, psychiatry, and ongoing care.

No pain.
No electrical stimulation.
Just additional information that may help guide treatment decisions.

Have questions? Start with a conversation - we’ll explain options clearly.

How does Neuro feedback fit into a larger treatment plan?

The answer is: not separately - together.

Brain mapping data is only one part of the picture. Clinical teams also consider therapy sessions, psychiatric care, family conversations, and day-to-day observations to better understand the full experience of each teen.

The goal isn’t quick answers or one data point. It’s gathering meaningful context that can help guide treatment decisions and ongoing care. When information is integrated, teams can review progress in real time and support care with a more complete perspective.

Questions are always welcome. We’re here to help you understand the process.

Last week's Hooves & Healing Wellness Social was truly special. 🐴✨

We teamed up with Health System and Animals With Heart to create a space where our community could slow down, connect, and just… breathe. Mini horses, good food, and even better people.

This is what collaboration in behavioral health looks like, and we couldn't be more grateful for the partners who show up alongside us.

When teens pull away, many parents instinctively try to push harder for conversation or connection.

But sometimes support starts with noticing rather than pressing. Simple observations and low-pressure check-ins can help create space without making teens feel cornered.

Not every quiet period means something is wrong. But when distance becomes more consistent, the way we approach the conversation can matter.

Small moments of connection often build over time.

We’re proud to celebrate a special moment for Horizon Recovery.

Our Executive Clinical Director, Koren Hudson, LPC, NCC, has been featured in Phoenix Magazine for her leadership and commitment to compassionate, evidence-based care for teens and families.

Koren’s work continues to shape programs that prioritize safety, connection, and individualized support for adolescents navigating mental health and recovery challenges. Her approach reflects something we believe deeply: healing begins when people feel seen, understood, and supported.

Congratulations, Koren, on this well-deserved recognition and for the impact you continue to make every day. 💙

When every answer becomes “I’m fine,” many parents feel unsure about what to say next.
The goal isn’t always to get an immediate response. Sometimes it starts with creating space for connection without adding pressure.
Simple observations like “I’ve noticed things seem harder lately” can feel different than repeated questions or trying to solve the problem right away.
Conversations don’t always open up all at once. Small moments of connection often build over time.
