We’re excited to open the doors to our new outpatient clinic and welcome our community to see the heart behind what we do.

Join us on Tuesday, August 18, from 3:00–5:30 PM for an afternoon of connection, refreshments, and the opportunity to meet the Horizon Recovery team. Whether you’re a community partner, healthcare professional, or simply want to learn more about supporting adolescents and families, we’d love to have you.

This event is also an opportunity to give back. We’re partnering with Hope & A Future to collect back-to-school supplies for teens in foster care. Bring school supplies, shop the wish list, or make a monetary donation to help local youth start the school year with confidence.

The signs aren’t always loud; sometimes it’s a teen who’s “just tired,” sleeping more, pulling away, going quiet. As Jordan shared, how a parent responds in those first 24 hours can make a real difference. You don’t need the perfect words. Showing up and staying present matters more than you think.

What does a brain map actually measure - and why does it matter in treatment?
A QEEG brain map gathers information about:

• brainwave activity
• communication between brain regions
• overall brain patterns at that moment in time

For families, that can mean a clearer understanding of what may be contributing to challenges with focus, stress regulation, sleep, or emotional functioning.

For the clinical team, it’s additional information reviewed alongside therapy, psychiatric care, family input, and day-to-day observations to help guide treatment decisions.

Not every coping strategy works for every teen.

Some teens benefit from movement. Others feel more regulated through structure, connection, creative outlets, or grounding tools. The goal isn’t finding one perfect strategy - it’s understanding what helps your teen feel more steady and supported over time.

Coping skills often work best when they fit naturally into everyday life and feel realistic enough to use consistently.

Small tools can make a difference.

QEEG and Neurofeedback can sound complicated at first. The simple version: one helps measure brain activity, the other uses that information as part of a broader treatment process.

QEEG creates a baseline by gathering information about brainwave patterns. Neurofeedback sessions then become one part of a larger clinical approach alongside therapy, psychiatry, and ongoing care.

No pain.
No electrical stimulation.
Just additional information that may help guide treatment decisions.

The answer is: not separately - together.

Brain mapping data is only one part of the picture. Clinical teams also consider therapy sessions, psychiatric care, family conversations, and day-to-day observations to better understand the full experience of each teen.

The goal isn’t quick answers or one data point. It’s gathering meaningful context that can help guide treatment decisions and ongoing care. When information is integrated, teams can review progress in real time and support care with a more complete perspective.

We teamed up with Health System and Animals With Heart to create a space where our community could slow down, connect, and just… breathe. Mini horses, good food, and even better people.
