What I've noticed is that the people who hold everything together are usually the last ones anyone thinks to check on, including themselves.

You become so good at being needed that being well quietly drops off the list, and no one questions it because the machine is still running. The performance is flawless.

That's exactly why the disappearing goes unnoticed for so long.

25 years ago, I made a decision that changed my life.

I wasn't starting from a place of abundance or certainty.

I was a young single mother on welfare and food stamps, working 4 jobs just to survive. One small, desperate yes, selling Christmas decorations so my baby could have a holiday, started a chain reaction I never could have predicted.

Within two years, my life looked completely different. And within 26 years of saying yes to my calling, something extraordinary grew from that one moment.

250,000+ souls served. 24 books. An 8-figure business built entirely from the heart. And a community I am more proud of than any number or stage.

But the truth is, this work has never really been about me.

It has always been about people remembering who they are. Trusting their own inner guidance. Realizing they are not alone on this path.

And now, a new chapter has begun.

After 25+ years, I've created something bigger than myself, The School of Light. A place to grow through Soul, Self, and Service. A place where the next generation of teachers, healers, and leaders can rise.

For people who have built their lives around being the giver, the one who holds it all together and needs nothing, the idea of stepping out of that role can feel genuinely threatening, and the reason is deeper than most realize.

It raises a question that is uncomfortable to sit with: if I am not the one endlessly giving, then who am I, right?

That question is exactly why so many people stay stuck in patterns that are draining them. It is not that they do not want to receive or rest or set boundaries.

It is that doing so confronts them with an identity crisis, a not-knowing that feels far more unsettling than simply continuing to over-give.

Here is what is worth understanding, friends. That discomfort is not a sign that something is wrong. It is a sign that you are standing at the edge of real growth, the kind that asks you to discover who you are beyond the role you have been performing for so long.

We tend to treat taking care of ourselves as the thing we'll get to once everyone else is handled and every spiritual box is checked.

Self-care becomes the reward waiting at the finish line, except the finish line keeps moving and the reward never quite arrives.

Here's what shifts everything, friends. Your body isn't separate from your spiritual life, it's the instrument your intuition speaks through.

When you're running on no sleep, no nourishment, no stillness, the signal gets noisy, and you start mistaking exhaustion for a lack of guidance.

The clarity you're praying for often isn't missing, it's just buried under a body that's been asking for care.

The same is true for everything you give. Generosity that costs you your own foundation isn't sustainable, it's a slow leak, and eventually there's nothing left to pour from. Tending to yourself isn't the opposite of being soulful or being of service. It's the ground both of them stand on.

You're allowed to build from the foundation up rather than the other way around. Self isn't the selfish part of the equation, friend. It's the part that makes the rest of it possible.

Something I hear over and over again from people who find their way to the School of Light is some version of this: "I have always felt things that I could not explain, I have always sensed things before they happened, I have always had this quiet knowing underneath everything, but I never trusted it enough to actually follow it."

When giving and receiving fall out of balance, the result is almost always the same. We over-give until there is nothing left, and many givers know exactly what that depletion feels like because they have run themselves into exhaustion, and sometimes into actual illness, doing it, right?

The surface-level fix looks like learning to receive more, but the real work underneath that is far deeper. It is learning who you actually are when you are not constantly giving, and that question can feel surprisingly disorienting for someone who has built their entire sense of value on being useful.

Choosing to receive will ask you to release a particular version of yourself, friends, and I want you to really take this in. It is the version of you that learned, somewhere along the way, that love had to be earned by being helpful, by being needed, by being the one who gives.

Letting that version go is not a loss. It is the beginning of discovering that you were always worthy of love simply for who you are, not for what you do.
